Abstract

215,136. Ross, J. A. Feb. 23, 1923. Jointing by stamping. - Bands are joined by crimping the edges into locked engagement by dies 1 having crimping-elements 2, the dies being actuated hydraulically. The dies are pivoted at 3 and are closed by a hydraulic ram 6 acting through a toggle-linkage 7, springs 8 being provided to open the dies on the release of the working pressure. The pressure is applied by a plunger operated by a hand-lever 12, and a relief valve 9 which is positively actuated to release the working fluid and allow the dies to open is provided. The seat 10 for the work may be pivoted on the pivot. The cylinder 11 in which the plunger works forms the handle of the tool.
