Abstract

A fruit picker comprises a handle 11, a combined picking head and cup 10 with a base cup 10a removable leaving an open exit beneath the cup so permitting a length of flexible tube 13 to be connected to allow fruit picked to be conveyed through its length into a collecting container 15. The container may be hand held or worn as a back pack. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Afruit picker This invention relates to a fruit picker:-- with attachments.
Fruit pickers in general are a cup type article with a length of handle picking one fruit at a time which is lifted down individually to be emptied from cup. A tedious operation.
According to the present invention there is provided a picking head cup that has a removeable base cap.
The picking head is operated by a suitable length of handle attached to the side of cup positioned to be adjusted to three angle settings. A length of flexible tubing can be attached to cup base when base cap is removed. The other end connects to a collecting container to receive fruit traveling through tube after being picked.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:- Figures shows in perspectivetheassembledfruit picker in its entirety.
Figure 2 illustrates in more detail the concept ofthe combined picking head cup.
Referring to the drawings the fruit picker has a combined head 10 of inclined circularserrated ton- gues on a cup set above a collaratits base. This base is open. The collarallowsfora base cap 10A, ortube collar 14, to be fitted by screw or clip on means (not shown). The cup has a handlefitting attached to its side allowing three angles (not shown) in Fig. 1.
A attachable length of operating handle 11 one end fits on side of cup the other end has a grip. Two cup ties 12 are on handle at suitable pointsto anchortube 13.
There is a extending flexible conveyortube 13 longerthan the operating handle 11. This tube hastwo fixing collars 14 that allow tube to swive' in cotlar the tube circumference is larger than the circumference of tips of picking tongues 10.
A box type collecting container 15 with a carrying handle is supplied to hold fruit picked after journey through tube the container has a open top 16. On one side the remaining top half of container is enclosed apartfrom a circular opening around which a raised collar is fitted this collarallowsforatube collarfixture 14 by screw or clip on means (not shown). The collar allowsforthe inclusure of a cushioning valve (not shown) Fig. 1 to cushion fruit after itsjourney th rou s h tube before entering container. At points around containers top and bottom edges are clip fixtures to allow the attachment of straps or ropes (not shown) giving the containera dual role, hand carried orslip on back pack, while operating picker.
The picking head cup fOin Fig.2with basecap removed and tube collar attached 14 handle 11 secured by screwto a three angled bracket fitting 17 on side of cup is operated by lowering fruit into picking head by use of the attached handle, lifted to one side to catch fruit stalks in the serrated V 18 between the picking tongues and snapped off into cup by taking it in branches direction.
1. Afruit picker, comprising a picking head cup that has a removable base cap. The picking head is operated by a suitable length of handle attached to the side of cup positioned to be adjusted to three angle settings a length offlexible tubing can be attached to cup base when base cap is removed the otherend connects to a collecting container to receive fruit travelling through tube after being picked.
2. Afruit picker as claimed in claim 1 that has a circularserrated set of picking tongues in its picking head to pick fruit and allow fruits passage through the cup and out of an open exit at base.
3. Afruit picker as claimed in claim 1-2 where on a suitable length of handle with clipties and a grip one end is provided to control the picking head cup when operating, and to anchortube.
4. Afruit picker as claimed in claim 1-2-3 whereon a base cap cover is provided to seai picking head cup at baseto contain fruit for individual picking.
5. Afruit picker as claimed in claim 1-2-3 whereon a flexible extending tube with fitting collar is attached to the picking head cup, also held in position by clip ties on operating handle enabling fruitto betransferred to tube from picking cup and guided to container.
6. Afruit pickerasclaimed in claim 1-2-3-5 whereby fruit is transferred from tube to a container by means of attachment passing through a cushioning valve in container collar before entry into container.
7. Afruit picker as claimed in claim 6 wherebythe said container is adaptable to be hand held or carried as a back pack by means of straps while operating picker.
8. Afruit picker as claimed in any previous claims whereby the principle of operation is the picking of fruit and the guiding offru it to a collecting container buy a conveying tube attached to picking cup and container.
9. Afruit picker with attachable parts as described herein with reference to Figures 1-2 of the accompanying drawings.
