Abstract

A cutting jig comprising a metal plate with guide slots which guide the movements of a hand operated rotating cutting tool to allow perfectly mating joints to be cut in laminated worktops and to allow keep holes for fixing bolts to be made to any depth required. The two sections of a worktop when connected together provide a perfectly mating butt joint eliminating the use of raised jointing strips. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Worktop butt joint jig Drawing l-(one) - Operation one - scribe Locate jig upon worktop - locating pins marked A of which there are three number. This will give a 23 mm space between outside of worktop and inside of jig running edge, allowing 3 mm for the ring guide of the router.

An extended cutter of 12 mm diameter must be used to allow 3 mm between the outside edge of the cutter and the outside edge of the ring guide.

It is recommended the whole of point Al (one) is taken through its complete depth to prevent chipping, the scribe can then be completed in two or three sweeps of the ROUTER from point Al (one) to point A2.

Drawing 2-(two) - Operation two 45 mitre Locate worktop jig on worktop using pins marked B of which there are six - this enables a butt joint to be cut at any point along the length of the worktop.

It is recommended the whole of point B2 is taken through its full depth to prevent chipping. The mitre cut can then be completed in two or three sweeps of the ROUTER from point B2 to point B3.

Drawing 3 and Drawing 4-(three and four) Operation keep holes for link bolts Locate worktop jig on worktop using clamps as in drawings 3(three) and 4(four) and proceed to Router out. The holes may be kept at whatever depth meets the operators requirements.
