Description
SPECIFICATION
Flood door
MATERIALS REQUIRED 1) i" X call(+" thickness) aluminium channel 2) #"" x (w3,, thickness) spunge waterproof rubber channel 3) " thickness purspex sheet, one sheet " thickness 4) i" X " hardwood lenght " channel through center 5) wall brass nuts 8 bolts + brass plugs i" 6) 1" x i brass screws + T X " and wash.
ers 7) One 6" x 6" plastic handle, flat base 8) Locktight glue 9) Waterproof mastic and gun 10) 31 X #" "L"shaped brass bracket " thickness 11) Rubber "T" shaped strip 14fl > < " X i" thickness
How to make up door, and how to fit the door. This example is to fit a doorway, that is 6ft 6" high x 2ft 6" wide
FLOOD LEVAL UP TO 3FT
Cut two pieces of aluminium channel 3ft 2" one piece 2ft 8". Drill 41' holes in aluminium channel inside channel. Every six inches apart on all pieces. Countersink and de-ber.
Now by useing a concreat cutter with a width blade set at 1" depth cut a channel square and true out of inside walls and floor of door way were convenant 6ft 6" high.
Make good all chipped walls and floor. Now fit the aluminium channel in the channeled out walls and floor and mark out, drill holes from aluminium channel to the channeled walls and floor, take out aluminium channel and drill i" holes were marked and plug.
Now inject waterproof mastic, that's fitted in mastic gun, all round the the inside floor and walls channeled out, up to the hight of aluminium channel, now re-fit aluminium channel, fit brass i" screws in +" holes and screw tight. Now take 3 X xFN thickness spunge waterproof rubber channel, cut to size required for the inside of channeled aluminium fitted in walls and floor.
Cut a sheet of -" thickness purspex sheet 3ft 2" > < X 2ft 2ft 7i", and slot rubber channel round purspex sheet, now run Iocktight glue all over rubber channel, and slot into aluminium channel and leave to dry. When dry take out all purspex sheet. Now cut a sheet of purspex sheet 3ft 2" x 2ft 74" wide X #' thickness, sand down rough edges, cut a peice of channeld hardwood 2ft 8" lenght fit on to top of purspex sheet, 2ft 7i" wide.
Now drill from inside door edge 1 " from each end of wood, every 6" an #' drill holes X a depth, countersink, and fit brass 4 x #" brass screws, and screw tight, now fit brass ''L'' shaped brackets 31 x i1I place one on each end of wooden door top, each bracket is to be drilled center of bracket " holes and countsunk, mark wooden handle were drill holes is to go, for bracket, drill " hole x " both ends, fit brass screws and screw tight.
Now by useing washing up liquid, scwerted round edge of purspex sheet, slot in purspex door in rubberised channeled aluminium frame mark the other end of brass " shaped bracket on the top of door, each end of wooden strip handle, and mark the wall were drill holes for bracket is to go. Take out door. Drill holes, were required " X 1" depth and fit brass screw plugs in wall tight, now re-fit purspex door, fit two i" brass bolts to "L" shaped, and bolt home. Do the same prosess to all downstairs doors, all widths and lenght, and hight sizes can be altered to requirements, if a flood leval of over is required then by useing the concreat cutter cut the outside edge of wall and floor or step, to allow hight room for sloting in door.
All houses with air bricks are to be covered as follows.
Use a sheet of #' thickness purspex to required size, stick #" thick sheet of spunge waterproof rubber to purspex sheet when dry, mark and drill in each corner 41' holes. Also to wall, covering air brick compleatly. Fit +" brass screw plugs in holes in wall, fix firm. Fit purspex over air brick, fit +" brass bolts in each hole, bolt tight.
If there is down stairs toilet, supply a bung to prevent flood water comming out of toilet, the house should now be ready for flood's.
After flood have passed, take out bung in toilet. Remove air brick cover putting four rubber studs, in drill holes in wall, to prevent dirt.
Now take out doors by unbolting the two brass bolts, on wooden door strip. Fit two rubber studs in holes. Now fit rubber "T" shaped strip, all round, aluminium rubberised channel to prevent damage and dirt. This strip should fit flush.
If a handle on door is required for lifting, in and out, stick a 6" x 6" plastic handle in center of door useing locktight glue.
The reson for putting down toilet bung, and air bricks, is because. it no good stopping water comming in the door, and no preventing it comming in air bricks 8 toilet. Most houses in reserch did not have them. But I still want to cateter for those with.
