Abstract

214,918. Rastetter, W. C. Nov. 1, 1923. Rackets. - The frames of lawn tennis rackets are made by bending to racket shape an assemblage of wide wooden laminae and cutting off the requisite widths to form the frames. The wooden sheets 1 - - 4 are dried, treated with glue, and whilst the glue is viscous are bent to shape and are retained until the glue sets, a wedge-piece 5 and cap sheet 6 being secured in place as the bending operation is completed. The frames are then sawn from the assemblage. In a modification, the wedge-piece 5 terminates at the neck instead of extending down the handle.
