Description

SPECIFICATION Electronics baton for police This invention relates to an electronics baton for police, particularly to a baton provided with a voltage multiplying and rectifying device electrically matched with an elastic telescopic pipe for producing an instant hightension and low current power so as to temporarily disable the local body part of the wicked for arrest without inflicting any injury upon him.
It is often read of the newspaper that during searching and arresting operations, police not only are unable to perform their task effectively because of the limit of police weapons, but also often suffer serious injuries from the wicked, and even resulting in accidental death. Although the police are equiped with defensive weapons such as gas gun, tear shell, anesthtic gun or other riot gun, etc., to assist them, some restrictions are always imposed upon them such as high cost of the equipment, too much killing power to be released, and/or the limit of the circumstances at the time when performing the task, so that, police work cannot be effectively accomplished.
It is accordingly a primary object of this invnetion to provide an electronics baton with a voltage multiplying and rectifying device for generating a high-tension voltage (preferably 40,000 volts) and low current (preferably 20 muA) so as to inflict a temporary numbness upon the local body part of the wicked for the arrest without causing substantive injury therewith.
It is a further object of this invneion to provide an electronics baton with an elastic telescopic pipe in cooperation with a triggering gear and the voltage multiplying and rectifying device ao as to accomplish the instant contact with the local body part of the wicked.
It is still another object of this invention to provide an electronics baton with a handy structure and simple operation so as to facilitate carrying and render instant firing operations.
these and other objects of the present inventin are achieved by providing a preferred embodiment of an electronics baton for police according to this invetion, which baton comprises a handle mechanism having a hollow grip shell structure with a battery compartment integrally formed at the rear portion for containing a re-chargeable battery set therein, a voltage multiplying and rectifying device arranged in the middle and associated with the battery set, a triggering gear provided at the lower portion in connection with the voltage and rectifying device, and an elastic telescopic pipe having high-tension wires wound therearound installed at th front end in conjunction with the triggering gear and the voltage multiplying and rectifying device for rendering a high-tension voltage and low current against the wicked without causing any injury therewith.
Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment when read in conjuction with the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a partial sectional view of a preferred embodiment of an electronics baton for police according to this invention; Figure 2A is a cross sectional view of the telescopic pipe of the preferred embodiment shown in Fig. 1; and Figure 2B is a schematic illustration and partial expanded sectional view of the preferred embodiment shown in Fig. 1.
Referring to Fig. 1, there is shown a preferred embodiment of an electronics baton for police according to this invention, which baton comprises; a handle mechanism having a hollow grip shell 50 filled with intensive insulating material within the shell wall; a battery compartment 1 2 integrally formed at the rear end for accommodating a re-chargeable battery set 10 therein; a voltage multiplying and rectifying device 20 installed in the middle of the grip shell 50; a triggering gear 60 provided at the front lower portion of the grip shell 50; and an elastic telescopic pipe 30 secured at the front end of the handle mechanism.
The voltage multiplying and rectifying device 20 is mainly combined by a transistor circuit 21 with a pair of resistors 17 and two capacitors 22 for oscillating the DC power source of the battery set 10 into pulsating current, a step-up transformer 23 electrically coupled with the transistor circuit 21 for changing the low pulsating current into high voltage, a plurality of high-voltage capacitors 24 and semiconductors 25 connected together and electrically coupled with the stepup transformer 23 for multiplying and rectifying the high voltage, so that, the low DC power source of the battery set 10 can be converted into a high-tension pulsating voltage (40,000 volts) and low current (20 muA) for instant output.
The telescopic pipe 30 includes a plurality of pipes different in diameter interposingly coupled together where the length of all the pipes is the same except for that of the inmost pipe 31, which is longer than other pipes with a distal round head at one end and an orifice 34 in the other, a compression spring 40 matched with a spring rod 41 installed in the inmost pipe 31 for effecting the ejecting operation of the pipes, and a pair of high-tension brass wires 32 spirally wound around the periphery of each pipe of the telescopic pipe 30 with the front ends terminated at the bottom side of the distal round head of the inmost pipe 31 and the rear ends electrically connected to the voltage multiplying end rectifying device 20.The inter-connection of the brass wire 32 at each pipe is made as shown in Fig. 2A, wherein each wire end of the pipes except for the ends of the inmost pipe 31 is vertically embedded in the whole tickness of the pipe wall in both ends for being correspondingly connected to the brass-wire ends at the upper portion of the next pipe 30' and so forth with the brass-wire ends in the rear portion of the outmost pipe together with the pipe end thereof being fixedly connected to the front end of the grip shell 50, from which the ends of the brass wires 32 are electrically coupled with the voltage multiplying and rectifying device 20.
Referring to Fig. 2B, the triggering gear 60 includes: a triggering member 61 pivotally connected in the front portion of the handle mechanism through a pivot pin 65; a spring 66 connected between a stub of the triggering member 61 and the inner wall of the grip shell 50; a catch pin 62 vertically fixed at the front curved end 67 of the triggering member 61; a safety block 70 movably installed in the front portion of the grip shell 50 in conjunction with the curved end 67 of the triggering member 61; a push-button switch 64 provided on the inner wall of the grip shell 50 and located in keeping with a tail lug 68 of the triggering member 61, wherein a terminal of the switch 64 is connected to the negative electrode of the battery set 10 while another terminal is coupled with the transistor circuit 21 through the collector thereof.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, when the preferred embodiment of the electronics baton is kept idle, the telescopic pipe 30 is collapsed together within the outmost pipe (as shown in Fig. 1) with the inmost pipe 31 secured therein by being automatically engaged with the catch pin 62 of the triggering member 61 in the rear end orifice 34 so as to keep the telescopic pipe 30 in ejective position under the compression spring 40, and the safety block 70 is set against the bottom side of the curved end 67, so that the electronics baton is always maintaining at safety condition. During exigent situation, just release the safety block 70 and pull the triggering member 61 with one's forefinger so as to disengage the catch pin 62 from the orifice 34 of the inmost pipe 31, the telescopic pipe 30 will, under the expansion force of the compression spring 40, instantly eject out therefrom.Simutaneously, during the ejection of the telescopic pipe 30, the tail lug 68 of the triggering member 61 has already pressed the pusbutton switch 64 to close the circuit between the voltage multiplying and rectifying device 20 and the brass wires 32, and high-tension voltage is therefore transferred to the distal round end of the inmost pipe 31 for an instant contact with the body of the wicked, who, on being shocked by the high-tension voltage and low current, will be temporarily rendered numbness in the local body part in one-sixtieth second without offering resistance for the arrest within 20-30 seconds. Once the pressure applied on he triggering member 61 is released, the push-button switch 64 will recover its normally open condition and cut off the circuit between the voltage multiplying and rectifying device 20 and the brass wires 32, so that, the electronics baton can either be collapsed for storing or triggered again for delivering further shock action as the situation dictates.
Hoaving thus described the invention, it is to be understood that many embodiments thereof will suggest themselves without departing from the spirit and scope of this invention. Therefore, it is intended that the specification and drawings be interpreted as illustrative rather than in a limiting sense.
