Abstract

Description

SPECIFICATION Pull-out rail for a drawer guide assembly The invention relates to a pull-out rail for a drawer guide assembly which is fastenable to a side wall of the drawer, comprising a running flange and a fastening flange, at least one horizontal holding flap being punched out at the side of said fastening flange at the side remote from the running flange by means of which the pull-out rail is fastenable to the drawer side wall.

Drawer guide assemblies of this kind generaliy comprise one pull-out rail, each, at both sides of the drawer and one supporting rail, each, at the side wall of the body. The rails are provided with roller and/or slides, for example of plastic, to facilitate pulling-out of the drawer. Furthermore, drawer guide assemblies are known in which a cage for balls or a roller carrier carrying the rollers is arranged between the pull-out rails and the supporting rails.

According to the known state of the art pull-out rails are either screwed to the drawer side wall or dowelled thereto, or, in particular in the case of plastic drawers, the pull-out rails are fitted into a groove in the drawer side wall provided for this purpose and clamped therein.

The latter-mentioned possibility is only possible, however, in the case of very broad drawer side walls.

It is the object of the invention to provide a pullout guide assembly for a drawer guide assembly which can, in particular in the case of drawer side walls of plastic material, be very quickly mounted, with mounting operations being preferably possible without any particular tools, and providing a secure fit of the rails at the drawer walls.

According to the invention this is achieved in that the holding flap is at both ends connected with the fastening flange, and that in the mounted position a projection at the lower edge of the drawer side wall is insertable from above between the holding flap and the fastening flange.

In the pull-out guide according to the invention the drawer side wall must only be pushed from above behind the holding flap or behind the holding flaps (generally a number of flaps will be provided at each pull-out rail).

When the holding flaps have inclined inner surfaces and the drawer side wall is provided with a corresponding catching edge, nub or the like, the drawer side wall can with its projections engage behind the holding flaps, thus obtaining an absolutely secure fit of the pull-out rail at the furniture side wall.

With respect to manufacturing techniques, it is of advantage when the holding flaps are punched out of the pull-out rail. The holding flaps then form with the fastening flange of the pull-out rail a trapezoid, when viewed from the top, i.e. viewed in the inserting direction of the drawer side wall.

With drawer side walls whose cross-section is a substantially V-shaped profile, it is of advantage when the pull-out rail is at the free edge of the running flange provided with a marginal flange serving as a stop for the outer cover member of the drawer side wall. Hence, the pull-out rail is held between the cover member and the actual drawer side wall, i.e. between the marginal flange and holding flaps. Thus, an extremely good fit of the pull-out rails is obtained, on the one hand, and the stability of the drawer side wall is substantially improved, on the other hand.

Below an embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawing without restricting the invention to the illustrated embodiment.

Figure 1 shows a schematic view of a pull-out rail according to the invention and a part of the drawer side wall, Figure 2 shows a horizontal sectional view in the region of the holding flaps of a pull-out rail according to the invention in the mounted position, Figure 3 shows a cross-sectional view of a drawer side wall with a pull-out rail according to the invention, Figure 4 shows a cross-sectional view of a further embodiment of a pull-out rail according to the invention, Figure 5 shows a cross-sectional view of a part of the side wall which is particularly suitable for mounting a rail according to Fig. 4, and Figure 6 shows a schematic view of a drawer with pull-out rails according to the invention.

The supporting rails at the side of the body as well as rollers, slides or ball cages are not shown in the figures of the drawing as they are not the actual subject of the invention. The pull-out rail according to the invention may be combined with conventional supporting rails and conventional sliding means.

The pull-out rail according to the invention has a fastening flange 1 which is vertically aligned in the mounted position, and a running flange 2 which is horizontally aligned in the mounted position. The holding flaps 3 are punched out of the fastening flange 1.

In the embodiment, the holding flaps 3 are trapezoid, when viewed from the top, i.e. in the direction of arrow A of Fig. 3.

In the mounted position, projections 4 are fitted between the holding flaps 3 and the fastening flange 1 of the pull-out rail, thus providing a simple connection between pull-out rail and the drawer side wall 5.

The drawer side wall is advantageously provided with a lip 6 which forms, on the one hand, the communication to the bottom of the drawer, and provides, on the other hand, a support for the holding flaps 3 which rest against the corner 7 between the lip 6 and projections 4 in the mounted position.

In the embodiment according to Fig. 4, each holding flap 3 has an inclined inner surface 8. Said surface 8 corresponds to a catching groove 9 at the projections 4 of the drawer side wall 5.

In the illustrated embodiment, the pull-out rail is at its running flange 2 provided with a marginal flange 10 which, as can be seen in Fig. 3, abuts against the outer cover member 11 of the drawer side wall, when the drawer side wall 5 has a Vshaped cross-section.

In the drawer schematically illustrated in Fig. 6 the members bordering the drawer are designed as a homogeneous part, i.e. the drawer side walls 5 form one part with the rear wall 12 of the drawer. Equally, a drawer wall 14 is provided besides the drawer front plate 13 at the front of the drawer. The pull-out rails 1 5 are fastened to the drawer side walls 5 in such a manner that they are at least partly covered by cover members 11.

Claims

1. A pull-out rail for a drawer guide assembly fastenable to a drawer side wall, in particular to a drawer side wall of plastic material, comprising a running flange and a fastening flange, at least one horizontal holding flap by means of which the pullout rail is fastenable to the drawer side wall being punched out at the side of said fastening flange remote from said running flange, characterized in that said holding flap is at both ends connected with said fastening flange, and that in the mounted position a projection at the lower edge of said drawer side wall is insertable from above between said holding flap and said fastening flange.

2. A pull-out rail as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that said holding flap or holding flaps have an inclined inner surface preferable corresponding to a catching edge at said projection of said drawer side wall.

3. A pull-out rail as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that said holding flaps are trapezoid, when viewed from the top, the base being formed by said fastening flange of said pullout rail.

4. A pull-out rail as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that at the free edge of said running flange it is provided with an angular marginal flange serving as a stop for the cover member of said drawer side wall.

5. A pull-out rail substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
