Abstract

A brush cleaner which is capable of scrubbing the floor with the concurrently flushing water, including a cylindrical housing which being provided a tangential tapered nozzle (32) through which the water discharges into the housing (31) from hose 5, and an impeller (35) mounted within the housing (31) to be driven by the discharging water to revolve with a brush (4) secured under the impeller (35) in coaxial position therewith, the water being discharged above the brush. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Brush cleaner The present invention relates to a cleaner, more particularly, it concerning a brush cleaner especially for scrubbing the floor.
Generally, in scrubbing the floor, often times water has to be used concurrently to flush away the dirt on the floor, thus, a simple device which can simultaneously perform both functions of scrubbing and water flushing to clean the floor is attempted.
A general object of the present invention is to provide a brush cleaner which can implement synchronously the functions of moistening and scrub in cleaning the floor.
Another object of the invention is to furnish a brush cleaner which is labor saving in using.
In accordance with the present invention, a brush cleaner comprises a housing having an outlet at the bottom thereof and an inlet above the outlet; a nozzle member adapted to communicate with a water supply, being disposed in the inlet for jetting water into the housing; an impeller member mounted in the housing for rotation about an axis; and a brush member disposed under the bottom of the housing and coupled to the impeller member for concurrent rotation with the impeller member, whereby the inlet water drives the impeller member and is discharged above the brush member.
According to a further feature of the invention, a elongated tubular handle pivotally fixed on the housing which having an aperture on the wall thereof so that a water hose communicates with the water supply can be inserted into the elongated tubular handle from the upper opened end thereof and threaded the aperture to connected with the nozzle.
It is preferred in the invention to adopt a needle nozzle as the nozzle member.
The presently preferred exemplary embodiment will be described in detail with respect to the following drawing: Fig. 1 is an exploded sectional view of the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a transverse cross-section view illustrating the relationship of the arrangement between the water inlet and impeller member of the present invention; Fig. 3 is a perspective view illustrating an embodiment of the present invention.
Referring now to fig. 1 and 2, the impeller 35 is surrounded by a housing 31, which comprising radial blades 351 being located so as to be struck by water discharging through a tangential tapered nozzle 32, and the impeller 35 is thus driven to rotate at a rate which varies with the speed of water through tangential tapered nozzle 32 from the water supply. The wall of the housing 31 is provided with a plurality of orifices 33 which defines the water outlet.
In another embodiment, the nozzle employed can selectively be a needle nozzle which is capable of properly controlling the flow rate of water.
The impeller 35 includes a shaft 34 secured therewith by a key 341 and journalled in bearings 39 which are respectively disposed at the top and bottom walls. Thus as the discharging water strikes the blades 351, it not only drives the impeller 35 but also rotates the shaft 34.
It is noted that the brush 4 is fixed to a seat plate 36 which having a hole 361 thereon, and the shaft 34 is inserted into the hole 361 and secured therein by the screw 364 so as to revolve together with the impeller 35 under the striking action of discharging water.
An elongated tubular handle 1 is pivotally supported on a rotary coupling 21 seated on a bracket 24, which is disposed on the top wall of the housing 31. A water hose 5 communicated with the water source is extended through the tubular handle 1 and threaded a aperture 12, finally sleeving on the nozzle 32 to supply the water.
In the described embodiment, the coupling 21 is rotatably held on the bracket 24 by a bolt 25 journalling on the bushings 231 which are inserted at two ends of the coupling 21, and fastened by a nut 26 and a split pin 27 pierceing a transverse bore 251.
While the invention has been described in connection with what is presently considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments it is to be understood that the invention is not to be limited to the disclosed embodiments but on the contrary, is intended to cover various modifications and equivalent arrangements included within the sprit and scope of the appended claims which scope is to be accorded the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and equivalent structures.
