Description

SPECIFICATION Shower-Bath Unit Operating Alternatively with Continuous Flow, Pulsating Flow and Perfumed Flow The present invention relates to a shower-bath unit which can typically be used, in a selective manner, in three different operating modes: with continuous flow, with pulsating flow and with perfumed flow.
More specifically, the shower-bath unit embodied according to the present invention is characterized in that it comprises a water delivery body fitted with a shower-rose, a member for distribution of the supplied water mounted within the said delivery body in a manner whereby it is selectively movable between three different operating positions: a first position in which the flow is sent directly to the said shower-rose, a second position in which the flow is sent to the shower-rose through a chamber containing a perfumed substance, and a third position in which the flow is sent to traverse the shower-rose with interpolation of a pulsator member which pulsates the flow.
More exactly, the said delivery body consists of a sleeve transversally divided by a wall which on one side bears said distributor member which is in the form of a threaded knob, said transversal wall featuring a pair of water-delivery bores communicating with a conduit formed in a grip extending from the delivery body, and a series of three through-bores adapted to be selectively placed in communication with at least one of the said two delivery bores by means of a bottomwall formed on the outside of the said distributor member and bearing a series of closed baffles, there being connected in a first position a water delivery bore with a through-bore leading towards the pulsator member, in a second position a water delivery bore with a through-bore leading directly to the shower-rose and, in a third position, a water delivery bore with a chamber formed within said threaded knob and containing a perfumed substance, and thence leading by means of a through-bore towards the shower-rose.
The structural and functional characteristics of the invention and its advantages will be more fully understood from the following exemplifying description referred to the attached drawings, in which: Figure 1 is an enlarged perspective view illustrating a shower-bath unit embodied according to the invention; Figure 2 is a rear perspective view of the said shower-bath unit of Figure 1, but in a mounted condition; Figure 3 is a front elevation:: Figures 4 to 6 are sections which respectively illustrate the three different operating modes of the shower-bath unit; Figure 7 is a section drawn through the line VIl-VIl of Figure 6; Figure 8 is an enlarged view illustrating another shower-bath unit embodied according to the invention; Figure 9 is an elevational view of the same shower-bath unit as shown in Figure 8, but in a mounted condition; Figure 10 is an elevational view of the shower bath unit taken through the arrow F of Figure 9; Figures 11 and 12 are elevational views of two sides of the central body of the shower-bath unit; Figures 13 and 14 are elevational views of two sides of a pulsator member of the shower-bath unit; Figures 1 5 and 16 are elevational views of two sides of a shower-rose of the shower-bath unit; Figures 17 and 18 are two views of a bottomwall;; Figures 19 and 20 are two views of a threaded operating-mode selector knob; Figure 21 is a section drawn through the line XXl-XXl of Figure 22 illustrating one operating .mode of the shower-bath-unit; Figures 22, 23 and 24 are partial schematic functional views of the threaded selector knob in the three operating positions; Figure 25 is a section drawn through the line XXV-XXV of Figure 23, and Figure 26 is a section drawn through the line XXVl-XXVl of Figure 24.
With reference to the drawings, in particular to Figures 1 to 7, the shower-bath unit in question is indicated overall by 10 and is formed structurally of a body 11 for delivery of water, said body being screwed onto a tubular hand-hold or grip member 12 for connection to a supply line (not shown).
The body 11 consists of a sleeve 13 which in its rear portion bears a threaded knob member 14 for distribution of the supplied water (as will be explained hereinafter) and in its front portion a shower-rose 1 5.
The threaded selector knob 14 is closed by a bottom-wall 16 to which is applied a liquid crystals thermometer 1 7 which is held between a stop-ring 1 8 and a lens 1 9 which closes a window 20 formed in the said bottom-wall.
The shower-rose 1 5 features two series of circumferential holes 21 and 2 1A and at its centre bears a pulsator member 22 of a type per se known.
Solid with the threaded selector knob 14 there is a cylindrical apron 23 with three bores 24, 25 and 26 therein adapted to be positioned alternatively opposite a bore 27 of the sleeve 13, from which bore 27 arrives the flow of water originating from a supply source.
The said apron 23 is also a housing for a dividing baffle 28 which, with the back-wall 1 6 and the threaded selector knob 14, forms a chamber 29 and, with the shower-rose 1 5, an annular chamber 30. The baffle 28 also features a bore 31 for selectively placing the pulsator 22 into communication with the water delivery, through the relative bore 25.
With the sleeve 13, the apron 23 also forms an annular chamber 32 communicating with the chamber 29 through a passageway 33.
The manner of operation of the aforesaid shower-bath unit can clearly be understood from what has been stated above with reference to the attached drawings, and is briefly as described below.
When a continuous flow of water is required, the threaded selector knob 1 4 is turned to the position of Figure 5 and the course of the water is as indicated by the arrows 34. When, on the other hand, the bather wishes to have a pulsating flow, the selector knob 14 is turned to the position of Figure 4 and the course of the water is as indicated by the arrows 35.
In the case, finally, where a continuous and perfumed flow is desired, the selector knob 1 4 is turned to the position of Figure 6 and the course of the water is as indicated by the arrows 36 through a perfumed substance, for example in the form of a lozenge 37 contained within the chamber 29, fitted onto a peg 38 protruding from the baffle 28.
There is in this way embodied a highly versatile shower-bath unit such as will meet the requirements even of a very fastidious bather and which also provides for instant and easilyperformed control of the temperature of the water delivered.
As is clear, the shower-bath unit according to the invention can be installed both terminally to a flexible hose and in a wall-fixture manner.
With reference now made to Figures 8 to 26, the shower-bath unit embodied according to a further embodiment of the invention is indicated overall by 110, and is structurally formed of a water-delivery body 111 which extends from a tubular hand-hold or grip member 112 which will be connected to a supply line (not shown).
The body 111, which is composed of a cylindrically shaped sleeve, is transversally divided by a wall 11 3 and in its rear portion bears a threaded selector knob 114 for distribution of the supplied water (as will be hereinafter explained), and in its front portion a shower-rose 115.
The threaded selector knob 114 is closed on one side by a bottom-wall 116 to which is applied a liquid crystals thermometer 11 7 which is held between a stop-ring 118 and a lens 119 which closes a window 120 formed in the said bottomwall.
On its other side, the threaded selector knob 114 has a backwall 121 featuring two lateral through-bores 122 and 123, and one central through-bore 124.
The outer surface of the wall 121 acts as a distributor and features a series of closed baffles 125,126 and 127 acting as chambers of communication between the different bores during operation of the shower-bath unit.
The shower-rose 11 5 has a series of circumferential perforations 1 28 communicating with an annular chamber 129, and bears in its central portion a pulsator member 130 of a kind per se known. The grip or hand-hold 112 features a bore or conduit 1 31 connected to two bores 132 and 133 in one side of the wall 113 (Figure 11), in which there are also a series of three through-bores 134,135 and 136 and a central through-bore 137.
The other side of the wall 113 (Figure 12) has a stepped central portion 1 38 from which the radiai baffles 139 depart.
Also featured are a screw 140 and relative locking nut 141 adapted to keep the threaded selector knob 114 rotatingly restrained to the body 111, it thus being possible to select the flow required by rotation of the base-wall 116 plus threaded knob 114.
The above-described operation of the showerbath unit emerges clearly from what has been set out heretofore with reference to the attached drawings, and is briefly as stated below.
When it is wished to have a continuous flow of water, the threaded selector knob 114 is turned to the position of Figure 22 and the course of the water debouching from the bore 133 is as indicated by the arrows 142. When the bather on the other hand wishes to have a pulsating flow, the threaded selector knob 114 is turned to the position of Figure 23 and the course of the water debouching from the bore 133 is as indicated by the arrows 143.
If, thirdly, it is wished to have a perfumed continuous flow, the threaded selector knob 114 is turned to the position of Figure 24, and the course of the water debouching from the bore 132 is as indicated by the arrows 144 through a perfumed substance, for example in the form of a lozenge 145 contained within a chamber 146 which is formed between the bottom-wall 11 6 and the wall 121.
There is in this manner embodied an extremely versatile shower-bath unit capable of satisfying the requirements of even the most fastidious bather and also providing means for the instant and readily-performed control of the temperature of the water delivered.
