Abstract

A bath taps safety cover 10 which can be used, if expanded, on its own or as a base onto which resilient material and water resistant material are successively fixed, provides protection against possible injury from bath taps by enclosing them within the cover. Access to the bath taps is provided for through two holes 11 in the top of the safety cover and the means of affixing the cover is by way of the rear 12 of the cover behind the bath taps. Water is allowed to flow through the safety cover by means of an outlet 13 situated at the bottom of the safety cover. If access to the bath taps is not required then the holes 11 are not provided, fig. 2 (not shown). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Bath Taps Safety Cover This invention relates to a bath taps safety cover.
Because of their structure and the material they are formed from bath taps can inflict, often fatal, injury to anyone unfortunate enough to fall on them. The bath taps safety cover is designed to provide protection against this type of injury by enclosing the bath taps within a a robust yet resilient cover.
According to the present invention there is provided a bath taps safety cover comprising a robust shell or frame which can in itself, ifformed from expanded material, provide the complete safety cover, or may be used as a base which is first covered with resilient material, then the whole covered with water resistant material.
Designed to fit over all common makes of bath taps the safety cover is affixed by means of the rear of the safety cover seated behind the bath taps. Access to the bath taps is provided for by means of two holes to the top of the safety cover or the top may be left as a whole if access is not required. Water is allowed passage through the safety cover by means of an outlet situated at the bottom of the safety cover.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the safety cover, with the shell providing either the complete safety cover or the base on which to complete the safety cover, two access holes to the top allows the bath taps to be attained. The rear of the safety cover affixes it to the bath and the water outlet is situated at the bottom of the safety cover.
Figure 2 shows the safety cover with the top as a whole.
Referring to the drawing Fig. 1 shows the bath taps safety cover comprising a robust shell 10, with the two holes 11 providing access to the bath taps, the rear of the safety cover 12 which provides the means of securing the safety cover once seated behind the bath taps and the water outlet 1 3 situated at the bottom of the safety cover.
If access to the bath taps is not required Fig. 2 illustrates the safety cover with the top as a whole 14.
1. A bath taps safety cover comprising a robust yet resilient cover over the bath taps, means for securing, with or without access to the bath taps and a water outlet to allow for the flow of water.
2. A bath taps safety cover as claimed in claim 1 whereby a robust yet resilient shell or frame provides the complete safety cover is formed from expanded material or is used as a base onto which first resilient material is fixed then the whole covered with water resistant material.
3. A bath taps safety cover as claimed in claim 1 wherein means for securing is by way of the rear of the safety cover seated behind the bath taps.
4. A bath taps safety cover as claimed in claim 1 wherein access to the bath taps is provided for by means of two holes to the top of the safety cover.
5. A bath taps safety cover as claimed in claim 1 wherein access to the bath taps is not provided for the top being left whole.
6. A bath taps safety cover as claimed in claim 1 wherein a water outlet is provided to allow for the flow of water through the safety cover.
7. A bath taps safety cover substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-2 of the accompanying drawing.
