Abstract
213,639. Hackett, G. O. B. July 31, 1923. Non - metallic elastic bodies and cores.-A rubber or other resilient core or filling for tyes, which may be externally formed to fit any desired standard cover, has a slot 4 communicating with a centrally disposed air-space 2, as shown in section, Fig. 3, and is formed with fiared transverse openings 5 extending towards the central space 2 but separated therefrom by a tubular wall 2<1>. The openings are in aligned, oppositely disposed, pairs, the axes being obliquely disposed, preferably alternately inclined opposite ways, as indicated in full and broken lines, so that round each side of the filling the openings are alternately near to and remote from the tread. A strengthening rib 6 may be provided extending into the space 2, and grooves or recesses of any desired configuration may be formed on the outer surface of the core between the openings 5.
