Stands or supports.-Lifting jacks permanently connected to the car are operated simultaneously from the driver's seat by means of flexible shafts coupled to the engine or to an external source of power. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the inner member of each telescopic screw jack is rotated by a flexible sbaft j driven from a short shaft h geared to a friction roller e adapted to engage a double friction disc d on the engine shaft. The pulley is operated by a hand-lever g so as to engage either flange of the disc d for raising or lowering. In a modification, the screw jack is replaced by a toggle-lever jack.
