Abstract

A garment hanger has a retractable three dimensional frame which can be used for displaying garments with female form. The frame has controlled outward movement of arms 7 from pivot points 5 and 6. This movement is arrested by, for example a notch, clip or similar means on the stem 4 when the frame is fully extended. When the hanger is not required for display, the frame can be retracted by means, in these examples, of fully depressing hook 2. The frame can be releasably secured when in the retracted position and the hanger used for garments' normal stock hanging. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Retractable three dimensional garment hanger This invention relates to a retractablethree dimensional garment hanger.

Three dimensional forms for garment display are well known. Being produced in a variety of materials, they range from part torso forms to full length dummy mannequins.

Such forms are, however, an expensive means of static display. Moreover they require considerable space when in use and careful storage when not in use.

According to the present invention there is provided a retractablethreedimensional hangerfordisplayof garments comprising a body in the form of garment shoulders and neck profile, a light-weight retractable frame attached permanently or otherwise to the hanger body,theframe being adaptable to movement in three dimensions for extension and retraction, meansforarresting extension frame, and means for releasably securing frame when in retracted position.

A specific embodiment ofthe invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:- Figure 1 shows hanger with frame in extended position; Figure 2 shows hanger with frame in retracted position.

Referring to the drawings the hanger comprises a body in theform of garment shoulders and neck profile, a light-weight retractable frame attached permanently or otherwise to the hanger body, the frame being adaptableto movement inthree dimen- sionsforextension and retraction, means for arresting extension offrame,and meansforreleasablysecuring frame when in retracted position.

In orderto extend the frame from the hanger 1 the means for securing frame in retracted position are released, the hook2 is then pulled upwards. As the hook is pulled in the direction ofthe arrow 3the hook stem 4 draws lower guide socket 5 towards upper guide socket 6 causing arms 7 to adjust in three dimensional movement. The upwards movement of hook stem is arrested by notch catch or similar means (not shown) when nipples 8 reach fully extended position as in Figure 1.

To retractframe fully depress hook and secure. The hanger may be used for garment's normal hanging storage when the frame is in retracted position as in Figure 2.

CLAIMS (filed on 9th Nov. 1983) 1. A retractable three dimensional hangerfor display of garments comprising a body in the form of garment shoulders and neck profile, a lightweight retractable frame attached permanently or otherwise to the hanger body, the frame being adaptable to movement in three dimensionsforextension and retraction, means for arresting extension of frame, and means for releasably securing frame when in retracted position.

2. Aretractablethreedimension hanger as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the frame is attached permanently or otherwise to the hanger body remote from the neck area.

3. A retractable three dimensional hanger as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, where in guide means are provided on the hanger body co-operable with the frame to control the extension and retraction of the frame.

4. A retractablethree dimensional hanger as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 where in guide means are provided on the frame co-operable with the hanger to control the extension and retraction ofthe frame.

5. A retractable three dimensional hanger as claimed in any preceding Claim, where in means for releasably securing retraction and extension of frame is provided on the hanger body.

6. Aretractablethreedimensional hangeras claimed in any preceding Claim, wherein means for releasablysecuring retraction and extension offrame is provided on the frame.

7. A retractablethreedimension hangersubstantially as described herein with reference to Figure 1-5 oftheaccompanying drawings.
