Fixed-chamber apparatus; varying quantity measured in; multiple-chamber apparatus; valve systems for.- Relates to apparatus of the type in which the measuring chamber is provided with several discharge tubes rising to different heights in the chamber, and consists in providing a single control device for two such chambers so that one fills while the other is emptying. The chambers 1, which may be of glass or metal, are clamped between a cover and a base 2 and are fitted with tubes 19 of various heights communicating by passages 18 with the casings 7, 8 of two discharge valves 10, 11. Passages 17 serve to empty completely the chambers 1. The discharge passes by way of a pipe 20 and flexible delivery hose 21. Between the two discharge valves is an outlet valve 9 arranged to allow the liquid from a supply pipe 13 entering one or other of the chambers 1 through passages 14 or 15. Overflow pipes leading back to the supply tank determine the height to which the chambers may be filled. The spindles of the valves are fitted with toothed wheels 29, 30, 31 which engage with a common rack 32 guided in a gear casing formed as an extension of the valve casing. The valves are arranged in the relative position shown in Fig. 1. The central spindle is providied with a handle which when turned moves the inlet valve and through the rack turns the other valves in the same direction. Pointers in use with the handle move over a graduated scale and show the quantity of fluid being delivered.
