Reeling apparatus, especially for cables or ropes, is disclosed in which mounting devices (6) for the retention of reel bodies (7) intended to receive the material to be wound are mobile by means of at least one carriage (2, 3, 4) between a take-up position and a set down position and the mounting devices are displaceable on guides (5) on the carriage, transversely of the tracks (1) of the carriage, characterised in that two tracks for the carriages are arranged substantially immediately side-by-side and in one of the two tracks two carriages, or one carriage provided with two guides running parallel with one another for the reception of retaining devices (6) for two separate reel bodies (7) are or is held, and in the adjacent track a further carriage (4) for the transport of a retaining device (6) is held. Reel bodies are transferred from track to track. In this way a small space requirement is obtained but also the take-up position remains the same for every reel. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Reeling apparatus, especially for cables or ropes The invention relates to a reeling apparatus, especially for cables or ropes, in which mounting devices for the retention of reel bodies intended to receive the material to be wound are mobile by means of at least one carriage between a take-up position and a set-down position, and the mounting devices are displaceable on guides on the carriage, transversely of the tracks of the carriage.
Many production installations for cables and ropes work continuously. For this purpose the reel bodies for the material delivered and to be wound must be exchanged rapidly. This is achieved by two exchangeable retaining systems for the reel bodies.
Such a reeling apparatus has already become known in which a track for a carriage is arranged beside two frames determining take-up positions arranged one behind the other in the reeling direction. This carriage serves to take over the full reel bodies and bring them to the single set-down positkon of the apparatus, and to bring empty reel bodies to the take-up positions, winding being of course only ever carried out at one take-up position, but this position being changed after each reel.
The disadvantage of this known apparatus consists in the constantly changing take-up position, due to which considerable problems arise, especially due to the varying sag of the rope or cable to be wound. Moreover in one take-up position winding must be effected from front to rear and in the rear take-up position winding must be effected from rear to front, whereby again problems arise.
It is the aim of the invention to propose a reeling apparatus of the initially mentioned kind which is distinguished by small space requirements, and in which the reeling always takes place at one and the same take-up position.
In accordance with the invention this is achieved in that two tracks for carriages are arranged substantially immediately side by side, in one of the two tracks there are or is held two carriages or one carriage provided with two mutually parallel running guides for the reception of retaining fittings for two separate reel bodies, and in the adjacent track a further carriage is held for the transport of a retaining fitting.
Thus a small space requirement is obtained but also the take-up position remains the same for every reel. For this purpose it is only necessary for the carriage charged with the empty reel body to be driven into the appropriate position. In this connection it is provided according to a further feature of the invention that each of the two carriages mobile on the same track, or the carriage which comprises two guides, each of which can be formed for example by two parallel rails, can be anchored fast, preferably locking by virtue of shape, at one or two positions respectively of the track which corresponds to the take-up position of the reel.
A further very advantageous form of embodiment of the invention is distinguished in that a carriage is displaceable held in each of the two tracks and in that a further guide for the displaceable reception of a retaining fitting is supported through lifting devices on the rails which form one track. This results in an especially small space requirement, the one guide for the reception of the retaining fittings being raised when the carriage which is displaceable in the corresponding track is shifted into the take-up position.
The invention will now be explained in greater detail by reference to the drawings, wherein:- Figure 1 shows a plan view and Figure 2 shows a lateral elevation of an apparatus according to the invention, and Figure 3 shows a lateral elevation of a further form of embodiment of an apparatus according to the invention.
As may be seen from Figure 1 in combination with Figure 2, two immediately adjacent tracks 1, 1' are provided which are formed each to two parallel I-girders. Two carriages 2, 3 are held in the track 1 and a further carriage 4 is held in thafjdjoining narrower track 1'.
Each of the carriages 2, 3 and 4 comprises a guide 5 which is again formed by two parallel Igirders. This guide 5 serves to receive a retaining fitting 6, 6' for a reel body 7, 7'. Here the retaining fitting 6 is provided with rollers 8 and is displaceable in the guide 5 transversely of the track 1, 1' of the corresponding carriage 2, 3, 4.
The track width of the guide 5 of each carriage 2, 3 and 4 is here always the same, so that the retaining fitting 6 can be driven from the carriage 4 on the carriage 2 or 3, or conversely, according to choice.
Moreover, drive units 9, 9' are provided serving for the drive of the retaining fittings 6, 6' and the reel bodies 7, 7'.
Starting from the position of the retaining fittings 6, 6' and of the reel bodies 7, 7' as represented in Figure 1 , the reel body 7' held on the carriage 3 which is situated on the intended winding position is being wound. When this body is wound fully, the two carriages 2 and 3 are driven back, while the carriage 2 is driven to that position which the carriage 3 assumed previously, and anchored there. The carriage 4 with the empty reel body 7 is at the same time driven to the level of the winding position and the new position of the carriage 2 and the retaining fitting 6 holding the empty reel body 7 is driven on to the carriage 2 and positioned in the take-up position, approximately in the middle of the carriage 2.The cable or rope to be wound, cut off before the driving of the carriages 2 and 3, can now be laid and wound on to the empty reel body 7, while the retaining fitting 6 can traverse to and fro for the purpose of laying of the cable, in the carriage 2.
In the meantime the full wound reel b core 7' can be taken from the carriage 3 and retaining fitting 6' and replaced by an empty reel body, for the next exchange operation.
If now the reel body 7 situated on the carriage 2 is wound full, its retain;ng fitting 6 is brought, after the cutting off of the cable or rope, on to the carriage 4 situated at the front, and shifted therewith to the rear into set-down position. At the same time the two carriages 2 and 3 are shifted forwards and the carriage 3 loaded with the empty reel body 7' is brought into the take-up position and anchored there. The cable or rope to be wound is laid upon the empty reel body and wound on further, and now the retaining fitting 6' can traverse in the carriage 3 for the purpose of laying.
The fully wound reel body can be taken from the carriage 4 and an empty reel body can be fitted. Thus the position of the carriages 2, 3 and 4 as represented in Figure 1 is reached again.
One advantage of the reeling apparatus in accordance with the invention also consists in that the empty reel bodies can always be fed at the same position.
Various modifications are possible in comparison with the form of embodiment as represented. Thus for example in place of the two carriages 2 and 3 a single carriage can be provided which is equipped with two parallel guides 5 each of which is formed for example by two parallel rails.
In the form of embodiment according to Figure 3 the carriage 2 which is mobile on the same track 1 as the carriage 3 is replaced by the guide 2', in which likewise a retaining fitting 6 can be driven transversely of the track 1. This guide 2' is supported through lifting devices 10 on the rails 11 which form the track 1.
When the carriage 3 is brought into the takeup position as represented in Figure 3, then the guide 2' is raised as may be seen from Figure 3 and thus space is provided for the carriage 3.
When the reel held in the carriage 3 is wound full, after the cutting off of the rope the carriage 3 is shifted to the rear and the guide 2' is lowered.
Then an empty reel can be pushed from the forwardly shifted carriage 4 on to the guide 2' and the rope or cable can be laid on to the empty reel then situated in the take-up position.
