Abstract

212,407. Furness, W. March 2, 1923. Collapsable metal containers.-A collapsable metal container comprises a number of conical sections a, a<1>, a<2> fitting accurately together so that each forms a perfect continuation of the next, the lower edges of the sections fitting within a recess formed by pairs c, c<1>, c<2>, of bands on the upper edges of the sections beneath, the parts being further held together by w i r e - strainers or turnbuckles b. The base is constituted by a section d in the upstanding wall of which is a groove engaged by a projection on one of the bands c<2>, the joint being consolidated by a locking ring e disposed in the external groove made by the internal projection on the band c<2>. The upper sections may be rested in the section a<2>. In an alternative arrangement the container is held together by a tie-rod formed in sections and extending from top to bottom of the container.
