Description
SPECIFICATION
Enclosed switchboard
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the invention
The present invention relates generally to an enclosed switchboard within which a trucktype circuit breaker and a grounding switch device are housed and more specifically to a locking device used within the enclosed switchboard for enabling the grounding operation only when the circuit breaker is taken out of the enclosed switchboard for maintenance.
The grounding operation is disabled when the circuit breaker is carried within the enclosed switchboard or further the circuit breaker is prohibited from being carried within the enclosed switchboard when the grounding switch device has been closed to ground the bas bars.
Description of the Prior Art
Usually, when a truck-type circuit breaker is carried out of an enclosed switchboard for maintenance, it is necessary to manually ground the power supply bus bars or the load cables in order to discharge electric charge produced in or between the bus bars or the cables for safety. In grounding the bus bars or the cables, grounding terminals disposed within the enclosed switchboard are manually connected to these bars or cables, in some cases. However, grounding switch devices are widely used for facilitating the grounding operation of the bus bars or the cables. In the case where the above-mentioned grounding switch devices can freely be operated independently irrespective of the position of the circuit breaker, there exists a problem in that the grounding switch device may erroneously be closed even when the circuit breaker has already been carried within the enclosed switchboard, thus causing a short-circuit accident such that the bus bars or the cables are grounded when the circuit breaker is closed.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
With these problems in mind therefore, it is the primary object of the present invention to provide a safely and easily operable enclosed switchboard including a locking device for locking the operation of the grounding switch device in relation to the position of the trucktype circuit breaker. In the enclosed switchboard according to the present invention, when the truck-type circuit breaker is carried out of the enclosed switchboard for maintenance, the grounding switch device is freely operable; but when the circuit breaker is carried into the enclosed switchboard, the grounding switch device is inoperative; further when the grounding switch device is once closed, it is impossible to carry the circuit breaker within the enclosed switchboard.
To achieve the above-mentioned object, the enclosed switchboard according to the present invention comprises a first locking bar one end of which is pivotably connected to a pivotable grounding operation handle, a second locking bar having a first locking lug and a second actuator lug, a first locking bar guide member for guiding the first locking bar vertically and the second locking bar horizontally in such a way that the first locking bar can be locked by the first locking lug or vice versa, a second locking bar guide member for guiding the second locking bar horizontally, a return spring to urge the second locking bar into the unlock position, a locking bar actuator supported by the second locking bar guide member in such a way that one end thereof can be brought into contact with the rear wall of the truck-type circuit breaker and the other end thereof can be brought into contact with the second actuator lug, etc.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRE
FERRED EMBODIMENTS
With reference to the attached drawings, an enclosed switchboard including a locking device according to the present invention will be described hereinbelow in detail. In Fig. 1, an enclosed switchboard 1 is usually divided into two housings by a partition 1 a; a device arrangement housing 2 and a bus and cable arrangement housing 3.
Within the device arrangement housing 2, there are housed a truck-type circuit breaker 4 (shown by dot-dot-dashed lines), a locking device 10, and an operation handle section 20 of a grounding switch device. On the other hand, within the bus arrangement housing 3, there are provided a movable grounding blade section 30 of the grounding switch device, bus bars and cables, etc. Further, a plurality of disconnecting bushes 5A and 5B are fixed to the partition la passing therethrough.
Therefore, when the truck-type circuit breaker 4 is carried out of or carried into the enclosed switchboard 1, the circuit breaker 4 is connected to or disconnected from the disconnecting bushes 5A and 5B via a plurality of breaker conductors 6A and 6B arranged so as to be fitted to each central hole formed at the center of the disconnecting bushes 5A or 5B, respectively. Further, the truck-type circuit breaker 4 includes a plurality of wheels 41 rotatable on and along a plurality of rails 42, so that the circuit breaker 4 can be moved easily out of or into the enclosed switchboard 1. Further, in Fig. 1, the reference numeral 7 denotes a plurality of bus bars and the reference numeral 8 denotes a plurality of fixed grounding blades. These bus bars 7 and fixed grounding blades 8 are usually fixedly connected to the load-side disconnecting bush 5B.
In Fig. 1, the operation handle section 20 of a grounding switch device is made up of a bearing 21 fixed to the side wall of the devide arrangement housing 2, a pivotable shaft 22 pivotally fitted to the bearing 21, a triangular operation plate 23 fixed to the pivotable shaft 22, a grounding operation handle 24 removably fixed to the triangular operation plate 23, a connecting rod 25 one end of which is pivotably connected to one apex of the triangular operation plate 23, and a first verticallyarranged locking bar member 26 one end of which is pivotably connected to another apex of the triangular operation plate 23. Therefore, when the grounding operation handle 24 is pivoted clockwise or counterclockwise, the first locking bar member 26 can be moved up and down and thereby the connecting rod 25 can be moved to and fro via the triangular operation plate 23.
The grounding switch section 30 of the grounding switch device is made up of a shaft 31 fixed to a supporting plate 32 fixed to the partition 1 a, an arm 33 pivotably fitted to the shaft 31, a plurality of movable grounding blades 34 (three in three phases) fixed to the arm 3, a plurality of flexible conductors 35 having a contact 36 at each end portion thereof, respectively, so arranged as to be brought into contact with each movable grounding blade 34, and a grounding bar 36 to which the flexible conductors 35 are connected. As shown in Fig. 1, because one end of the connecting rod 25 is pivotably connected to the end of the arm 33, when the connecting rod 25 is moved to and fro, the arm 33 pivotes so that the movable grounding blades 34 are engaged with or disengaged from the fixed grounding blades 8.
Fig. 1 shows the state where the grounding operation handle 24 is pivoted counterclockwise or downward and thereby the triangular operation plate 23 is also pivoted counterclockwise to move the first locking bar member 26 in the upward direction and the connecting rod 25 in the rightward direction, so that the movable grounding blades 34 are disengaged from the fixed grounding blades 8; that is, the grounding switch device is kept opened. On the other hand, Fig. 2 shows the state where the grounding operation handle 24 is pivoted clockwise or upward and thereby the triangular operation plate 23 is also pivoted clockwise to move the first locking bar member 26 in the downward direction and the connecting rod 25 in the leftward direction, so that the movable grounding blades 34 are engaged with the fixed grounding blades 8; that is, the grounding switch device is kept closed.
With reference to Figs. 5 and 6, the locking device 10 for locking the closing operation of the grounding switch device in relation to the position of the truck-type circuit breaker 4 is described in detail below. The locking device 10 roughly comprises a second locking bar member 11, a first locking bar guide member 12, a second locking bar guide member 13, a locking bar actuator 14, a return spring 16, etc.
The first locking bar guide member 1 2 is fixed to the side wall 2A (See Fig. 3 or 4) of the device arrangement housing 2. The first guide member 1 2 includes an upper flange 1 2A in which an upper square hole 1 2a is formed, a lower flange 1 2B in which a lower square hole 1 2b is formed and a side flange 1 2C in which a side square hole 1 2c is formed. The side flange 1 2C is bent at a right angle with respect to the side wall 2A of the device arrangement housing 2 so as to be disposed between the upper and lower flanges 1 2A and 12B.The first vertically-arranged locking bar member 26 is so arranged as to pass through the two upper and lower square holes 1 2a and 1 2b of the first locking bar guide member 12.
The second locking bar guide member 1 3 is also fixed to the side wall 2A (see Fig. 3 or 4) of the device arrangement housing 2. The second guide member 1 3 includes an upper flange 1 3A in which an upper circular hole 13a is formed, a lower flange 1 3B in which a lower circular hole 1 3b is formed, and a side flange 1 3C in which a side rectangular hole 1 3c is formed. The side flange 1 3C is bent at a right angle with respect to the side wall 2A of the device arrangement housing 2 so as to be disposed between the upper and lower flanges 1 3A and 13 B. The second horizontally-arranged locking bar member 11 is so arranged as to pass through the side square hole 1 2c of the first locking bar guide member 1 2 and the side square hole 1 3c of the second locking bar guide member 1 3. Further, a locking bar actuator shaft 15 is pivotably disposed between two upper and lower flanges 1 3A and 1 3B of the second locking bar guide member 13 in such a way that the shaft 15 is passed through the upper and lower circular holes 1 3a and 1 3b of the upper and lower flanges 1 4A and 13B. The locking bar actuator 14 is fixed to the locking bar actuator shaft 15 so as to pivot between the two upper and lower flanges 1 3A and 1 3B of the second locking bar guide member 1 3.
Further, the second horizontally-arranged locking bar 11 is formed with a first locking lug 11 A (projecting piece) and a second actuator lug 11B on the opposite sides of the second locking bar member 11 a predetermined distance away from each other.
As shown in Fig. 6, one end of the second horizontally-arranged locking bar 11 is formed with a narrower portion 11 c and therefore a shoulder portion 11 D. A return spring 1 6 is fitted to the narrower portion 11 c and is supported by a spring stopper metal 1 7 attached to the outer end of the second locking bar member 11. Therefore, when the second locking bar member 11 is released, the return spring 1 6 always urges the second locking bar member 11 in the rightward direction to a position where the shoulder portion 11 D is brought into contact with the side flange 1 3c of the second locking bar guide member 1 3.
It should be noted that the locking device 10 functions so as to mutually lock the first vertically-arranged locking bar member 26 and the second horizontally-arranged locking bar member 11. In more detail, when the first locking bar member 26 has already been passed through the upper and lower squares holes 1 2a and 1 2b of the first locking bar guide member 12, the horizontal, leftward movement of the second locking bar member 11 is locked, because the first locking lug 11A of the secand locking bar member 11 is brought into contact with the first locking barmember 26.On the other hand, when the second locking bar member 11 has already been urged to a predetermined position against the elastic force of the return spring 1 6 in the leftward direction, the vertical, downward movement of the first locking bar member 26 is locked, because the first locking lug 1 1A of the second locking bar member 1.1 is located under the upper square hole 1 2a of the first locking bar guide member 1 2 and thereby the first locking bar member 26 is brought into contact with the first locking lug 11 A of the second locking bar member 11.
With reference to Figs. 3 and 4, the operation of the locking device 10 according to the present invention will be described hereinbelow in relation to the position of the truck-type circuit breaker 4.
Figs. 1 and 3 show the state where the truck-type circuit breaker 4 is completely carried within the device arrangement housing 2 of the enclosed switchboard 1, so that the breaker conductors 6A and 6B are completely connected to the disconnecting bushes 5A and 5B fixed to the partition 1a. In this state, the rear wall 4A of the circuit breaker 4 is brought into contact with the one end of the locking bar actuator 14, so that the actuator 14 is pivoted counterclockwise with the locking bar actuator shaft 1 5 as its center. As a result, the other end of the locking bar actuator 14 is brought into contact with the second actuator lug 11 B projecting from the second locking bar member 11, so that the second locking bar member 11 is moved in the leftward direction against the elastic force of the return spring 1 6 to a position at which the first locking lug 1 1A also projecting from the second locking bar member 11 is located just under the upper square hole 1 2a of the upper flange 1 2A of the first locking bar guide member 1 2. Accordingly, when the operator intends to operate the grounding operation handle 24 clockwise or upward and therefore the triangular operation plate 23 pushes the first locking bar member 26 downward, since the passage through which the first locking bar member 26 is passed is block by the first locking lug 11A, the bottom end of the first locking bar member 26 is brought into contact with this first locking lug 11A, with the result that it is impossible to move the connecting rod 25 in the leftward direction to engage the movable grounding blades 34 with the fixed grounding blades 8; that is, the grounding operation is inhibited with the grounding switch section 30 kept open.
Figs. 2 and 4 show the state where the truck-type circuit breaker 4 is taken out of the device arrangement housing 2 of the enclosed switchboard 1 for maintenance, for instance.
In this state, since the locking bar actuator 14 is released from the rear wall 4A of the circuit breaker 4, the second locking bar member 11 is urged in the rightward direction by the elastic force of the return spring 16 to a position where the shoulder portion 11 D of the second locking bar member 11 is in contact with the side flange 13C of the second locking bar guide member 1 3. As a result, the first locking lug 11 A projecting from the second locking bar member 11 is moved away from the passage through which the first locking bar member 26 is passed.
Accordingly, when the operator operates the grounding operation handle 24 clockwise or upward, the bottom end of the first locking bar member 26 is freely moved up and down through the upper and lower square holes 1 2a and 1 2b of the first locking bar guide member 12, with the result that it is possible to move the connecting rod 25 to and fro to engage or disengage the movable grounding blades 34 with or from the fixed grounding blades 8; that is, the grounding operation is enabled.
In the normal operation procedure, when the truck-type circuit breaker 4 is carried within the enclosed switchboard 1, the grounding switch section- 30 must be kept open. On the other, when the circuit breaker 4 is required to be carried out of the enclosed switchboard 1 for maintenance, for instance, it is necessary to ground the bus bars of cables for safety after the circuit breaker 4 has been carried out of the enclosed switchboard 1. For the above-mentioned reasons, the locking device according to the present invention disables the grounding switch device when the circuit breaker 4 is carried within the enclosed switchboard and enables the grounding switch device when the circuit breaker 4 is not carried within the enclosed switchboard.
In addition to the above-mentioned function, the locking device according to the present invention provides another safety function. That is to say, after the maintenance has been completed, the grounding switch must be opened before the circuit breaker 4 is carred again within the enclosed switchboard.
In other words, it is necessary to open the grounding switch section 30 before closing the circuit breaker 4. Otherwise, in case the circuit breaker 4 is closed while the grounding switch section 30 is left closed, this raises an accident of the main circuit short. The another safety function of the locking device according to the present invention is to inhibit the breaker circuit from being carried within the enclosed switchboard when the grounding switch section is left closed.
Fig. 5 shows the state where the grounding switch section 30 is left closed and therefore the circuit breaker cannot be carried in completely. In more detail, when the operator operates the grounding operation handle 24 clockwise or upward and therefore the triangular operation plate 23 pushes the first locking bar member 26 extremely downward, the first locking bar member 26 passes through the upper and lower square holes 1 2a and 1 2b of the first locking bar guide member 1 2.
Accordingly, when the truck-type cicuit breaker 4 is pushed into the enclosed switchboard 1 and therefore the rear wall 4A of the circuit breaker 4 urges the locking bar actuator 1 4 counterclockwise to move the second locking bar member 11 in the leftward direction against the elastic force of the return spring 16, the first locking lug 11A is brought into contact with the first locking bar member 26, with the result that the locking bar actuator 14 will not pivot counterclockwise and therefore it is impossible to completely carry the circuit breaker 4 within the enclosed switchboard 1. This attracts an operator's at Invention to the fact the the truck-type circuit breaker can be carried within the enclosed switchboard only after the grounding switching section is kept open perfectly.
As described above, in the enclosed switchboard provided with the locking device according to the present invention, since the grounding switch device can be operated only when the truck-type circuit breaker is carried out of the enclosed switchboard and since the grounding switch device can be locked open when the circuit breaker is carried within the enclosed switchboard or since the circuit breaker can be carried within the enclosed switchboard only when the grounding switch section is kept open, it is possible to effectively prevent such a short-circuit accident of the power supply bus bars that the truck-type circuit breaker is carried within the enclosed switchboard with the grounding switch section left closed and thereafter the circuit breaker is closed. In other words, it is possible ta provide a safely and simply operable enclosed switchboard.
It will be understood by those skilled in the art that the foregoing description is in terms of preferred embodiments af the present invention wherein various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention, as set forth in the appended claims.
