Abstract

An apparatus of electrical domestic or commercial type is provided with first 2 and second 4 identification plates respectively for the characteristic data and the trademark thereof, the second plate 4 being removably applied over said first plate 2 in such a way as to cover it completely. The second plate 4 is provided with catch members 5, each having a neck portion snap-engageable by a leaf spring (6) inserted in a suitable hole provided in the front surface of the apparatus, in such a way as to cover said first plate between the front of the apparatus and said second plate. The second plate 4 may be removed by inserting a tool into an opening 7. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Electrical apparatus with identification brand plate This invention relates to an apparatus of electrical domestic type or for collectivities, which is provided with an identification brand plate which can be easily applied to the front part of the apparatus.
As is known, such apparatuses are identified by means of a metal or self-adhesive plate which gives the characteristic technical data, type and serial No.
of each apparatus.
It is also known that such apparatuses additionally may have applied thereto marketing or selling trade marks which may differ from the name of the manufacturer.
With regard to the guiding requirements, the characteristic plate must be applied to the apparatus in such a way as not to be removable and in a position in which it is visible or however easily accessible, preferably without using tools, in order to permit the apparatus to be quickly identified for any maintenance, repair or simply control operations. with regard to aesthetic requirements however, it would be desirable for the characteristic plate to be applied in a position in which it is not in sight (back, sides, inside). Under some conditions of installation, for example apparatuses which are fitted together or which are boxed in, the part of the apparatus which is available for fitting the plate is only the front part. In that case therefore the aesthetic requirement has to be sacrificed and the guiding requirement must be satisfied.
On the other hand, there are in general no limitations in regard to positioning the trademark which can be applied anywhere. It is very important from the commercial point of view that the mark is applied to the front part, where it can be clearly seen, in such a way as to fulfil the aesthetic requirements and to permit the purchaser immediately to recog nise the model and manufacture.
According to the present invention there is provided an apparatus of electrical domestic or com mercial type provided with first and second identification plates respectively for the characteristic data and the trademark thereof, the second plate being movably applied over said first plate in such a way as to cover it completely.
As will become apparent from the following description, the invention can reconcile the abovementioned guiding and commercial require ments, which are in conflict with each other as indicated above, by means of suitable identification plates respectively for the characteristic data and for the trademark, which can be applied to the front part of the apparatus.
Another advantage of the present invention concerns the standardisation of apparatuses which have the same brand name or mark but different characteristic plates because they are intended for different foreign markets; or apparatuses which have the same characteristic plates but with different marks or brands, according to commercial requirements.
By suitably designing the packaging of the appar atuses, the characteristic plate and/or the brand can be substituted or fitted at the last moment, thus substantially reducing the number of models or versions to be held in store as a finished product.
In that case, it is desirable to apply a small self-adhesive provisional label to the apparatus, at the location of the characteristic plate, setting out the fundamental data for identifying the apparatus: model and serial number.
The provisional label could be covered by the definitive characteristic plate, upon dispatch of the apparatus.
The features of the invention will be more clearly apparent from the following description which is given solely byway of non-limiting example, and with reference to the accompanying drawing in which the sole Figure illustrates one embodiment of the present invention.
The characteristic plate 2 which carries the technical data of the electrical apparatus is fixed to the front of the apparatus, in particular to the panel 1 of sheet metal, by means of rivets 3 or similar means.
The mark or brand plate 4 is so shaped and dimensioned as completely to cover from view the plate 2 which, once fitted, remains enclosed between the mark or brand plate and the panel 1.
The mark or brand plate 4 is provided with two catch members 5 which are inserted into corresponding holes in the panel 1.
A leaf spring 6 is engaged in each of the holes, the spring 6 gripping the neck portion 8 of the catch member 5 in such a way as to lock the brand plate in place when it is inserted and to permit it to be removed when necessary.
In order to facilitate removal thereof, the brand plate 4 is provided with an opening 7 in which any suitable tool can be inserted and, by a levering action, disengage the catch members 5 from the springs 6.
In this way, the trademark is directly visible, thereby fulfilling the aesthetic needs of the apparatus, while the serial number plate, while being readily accessible in accordance with international standards, is covered by the brand plate.
1. An apparatus of electrical domestic or commercial type provided with first and second identification plates respectively for the characteristic data and the trademark thereof, the second plate being removably applied over said first plate in such a way as to cover it completely.
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said second plate is provided with catch members, each having a neck portion engageable by a leaf spring inserted in a suitable hole provided in the front surface of the apparatus, in such a way as to cover said first plate between the front of the apparatus and said second plate.
