Abstract

212,100. Elliott Bros. (London), Ltd., and Elliss, H. H. March 1, 1923. Selective perforating machines. - Relates to telegraph tape perforators, more particularly of the Wheatstone type, and comprises constructional improvements. On a base-plate h are mounted dot, space, and dash key-levers h<1>, h<2>, h<3> which actuate through lever ends 10, 20, 30 the punch and the feed mechanisms mounted on a plate l. On the back ends of the punches, between a guide n and the lever ends, are shaped shoulder pieces p which group and control the selection of the punches. This construction facilitates the removal of the punches. The tape feed is actuated through an action lever q, pivoted on a pin q<1> and extending across the key lever ends, which in moving operates an independent spring-urged lever s carrying a pawl w co-operating with a feed wheel x mounted on a spring-urged lever x<1>. On depressing the space or dot levers h<1>, h<2> a pivoted cam s<1> extending across the ends of these levers is actuated and locks the heel r of the lever s to restrict the movement of the latter and cause the limited feed necessary. The lever r remains locked until the dash lever is depressed. The movement of the pawl w is controlled by a conical-ended adjusting screw z. The tape is carried bv a holder 13 and is supported by a grooved guide 12.
