211,784. Western Electric Co., Ltd., (Western Electric Co., Inc.). July 13, 1923. Rolling-machines; moulding pulp. -Relates to apparatus for producing a plurality of coatings of pulp on a core. The core is fed from a supply spool 10 over an idler roller 11 and round a drum 12 with a foraminous periphery which is partially submerged in a semi-circular trough 13 containing fluid pulp, which is maintained at a level within the drum by means of the syphon pipe 21. After thus acquiring a deposit of pulp the core passes over a partially foraminous roller 50 which strains off the superfluous liquid and between the squeezing-rollers 51, 53, preferably surfaced with rubber or the like, which press the pulp into a ribbon. This ribbon is wrapped round the core by the former 54 in the manner described in Specification 204,463. A second coating is applied in the same way. The coating is dried by passing the core over the heated drums 87, 88 and thence to a receiving- spool 78.
