Abstract

A lamp holder (15) has an annular flange (21) with a conical end surface (23) and an annular lip (22), both are concentric with respect to the axis (13) of the lamp. A lamp socket (11) of the reflector (10) has an inner circular shoulder (12) against which the annular flange (21) abuts during insertion of the lamp holder (15) into the holder socket (11). Sealing against pressurised water is achieved by a radial engagement of the annular lip (22) against the holder socket (11). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A lamp for vehicles, particularly a lamp for motor vehicles State of the Art The invention originates from a lamp for vehicles, particulariy a lamp for motor vehicles, according to the preamble to claim 1. On one lamp of that kind; executed in practice, two axial bevels project from the rear edge of the holder socket which generate the necessary axial force for the bayonet cap on insertion of the lamp holder. In this case, sealing of the lamp holder to the holder socket is produced by an O-ring supported on the annular' shoulder of the holder socket.
Advantages of the Invention In the lamp according to the invention, the O-ring is omitted and the exchange of the bulb is more simple.
Advantageous further developments of the inVention are described i'n the sub-claims. In the form of lamp according to claim 3, a support for the flange on the annular shoulder is achieVed in a manner dependent on area and an increased' sealing of the interior of the reflector with respect to the outer atmosphere is achieved.-lf sealing against pressurised water is desired for the lamp, then this is achieved by its development according to claim 5.
Drawing An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawing and is described in detail in the following specification: The single Figure shows an axial partial section through the apex region of a lamp with the bulb inserted.
Description of the Embodiment The single Figure shows in partial section the apex region of a reflector 10 produced from thermoplastic plastics material, of a lamp for motor vehicles, and from the rear of which projects an integral cylindrical holder socket 11.
A conical annular shoulder 12 and a similar insert bevel 14 are arranged on the inner wall of the socket wherein each of the narrow cone sections extends towards the axis 13 of the lamp.
A lamp holder 1 5, also made of thermoplastic plastics material, accommodates an earth contact 18 and a pole contact 17, in a cup-like opening 16, both of which are connected to a bulb 9.The lamp holder 15 together with the bulb 9 inserted therein can be inserted in the reflector 10 in the form of a bayonet cap wherein two lugs 1 9 on the lamp holder 1 5 co-operate with two ramps 20 on the reflector 1 0.
An annularflange 21 and an annular lip 22 extend from the lamp holder 1 5 in an axial direction and coaxial with respect to the axis 1 3 of the lamp. The end surface 23 of the annular flange 21 is made conical in such a manner that the narrow cdnical edge extends away from the axis 13 of the lamp.
During the insertion into the reflector 10 of the lamp holder 1 5 provided with the bulb 9 in the form of a bayonet cap the annularflange 21 is supported by means of its end surface 23 on the annular shoulder 12 of the holder socket~1 1; in so doing, the axial force is generated necessary for the perfeCt functioning of the bayonet cap. At thesame time, an inner wall 24 of the annular lip 22 engages an outer wall 25 on the holder socket in such a manner that a seal protective against pressurised water is produced thereby.
1. Ajamp for vehicles, particularly a lamp for motor vehicles, comprising a lamp holder receiving a bulb which can be' inserted in the form of a bayonet cap into a holder socket from the rear' thereof and comprising an annular shoulder arranged on the inner wail of the holder socket, characterised in that, an annular'flange projects:in an axial direction from the lamp holder and is supported on the annular sfiould,er on insertion of the larrip holder into the holdersocket. -- 2.A:laamp according to claim , 1, characterized in that,. holder socket projects integrally from the rear of reflector.
3. A lamp according to claim 2,.characterized in that, the end surface of the ahnularflange is.made conical and that the narrow conidal edge extends away from the axis of the lamp.
4. A lamp according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that, the lamp holder has an axially directed annular lip the inner wall of which engages the outer wall of the holder socket on insertion of the lamp holder.
5. A lamp according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that, the lamp holder consists of an elastic plastics material, particularly of a thermoplastic plastics material.
6. A lamp for vehicles, substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
