Abstract

210,664. Brown, W. H. April 5, 1923. Gravity-feed lubricators; oil-hole closures.-A lubricator for laminated springs comprises an oil receptacle 5 fastened to the upper side of a flat clip plate 7 fitted on the top leaf of the spring by curved resilient end portions 7<1>. The receptacle is provided with a cover 9 having a wall 10 fitting over the upstanding wall of the receptacle, channels 8 being formed at the ends of the receptacle, either by pressing in the wall of the receptacle or by pressing out the wall of the cover, between the overlapping walls, whereby oil is splashed out from the receptacle on to the curved end portions 7<1> and thence seeps between the leaves of the spring, the channels having their upper ends open to the interior of the receptacle and their lower ends open to the exterior. A filling opening 11 in the cover is closed by a spring 12 which is folded upon itself and is stressed between the cover and bottom of the receptacle. The receptacle is fastened to the clip by rivets 6, one of which extends into a hole in the lower member of the spring in order to position the spring. The rivet may extend loosely into the hole or may rigidly anchor the spring.
