Abstract

210,291. Arpin, J. B. Feb. 5, 1923. Washing-apparatus with screens; inclinedtrough washing-apparatus. -An apparatus for recovering coke from ashes comprises a hopper 10 from which the ashes are discharged into a flume 11 containing running water. Situated in the flume adjacent the delivery mouth of the hopper is a screen 12, inclined upwardly in the direction of flow of the water, on which the ashes drop. This screen is supported by fixed pins engaging in slots 14 at one end, and towards its other end by levers 16 which are oscillated by suitable means. The fine particles of the ashes fall through the screen on to the sloping bottom 13 of the flume, while the remainder are discharged on to a fixed shelf 25 projecting under the downstream end of the screen. The light material is carried by the current on to a second fixed shelf 26, the heavy material falling between the shelves on to the bottom 13. The material reaching the shelf 26 passes to a second screen 27 supported by oscillating levers 28, 29 and pivoted at its downstream end to a screw 33. Any fine particles remaining pass through the screen 27 to the bottom 13 while the coke passes up the screen 33 and is collected by a conveyer 38 extending partly over the screen, a platform 40 being mounted below the upper part of the conveyer. The conveyer delivers the coke to a trough 44 from which it is removed by a conveyer 45. The materials passing along the bottom 13 enter a trough 48 and are removed by a conveyer 50.
