Abstract

A contraceptive device formed of rubber or the like has an outer semen pouch (6) with two medially located leakage preventing portions (2, 3) of a lesser diameter than that of the body of the device and spaced surface areas covered with a large number of small protrusions (4) each having an indentation in its end. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Improved contraceptive sheath This invention relates to contraceptive sheaths.
According to one aspect of the invention, there is provided a contraceptive sheath comprising a closed end portion to cover the glans of a user, a pouch projecting from said closed end portion, the sheath being formed with axially spaced upper and lower constricted portions of a diameter less than that of the sheath, a plurality of hollow projections on the sheath adjacent said constricted portions, the end of each projection having a dimple therein.
Preferably, the wall portion of the upper constriction is concavely formed. Conveniently, the hollow projections are provided on the sheath on the outer surface thereof between said closed end portion and said upper constriction. In a preferred embodiment, the hollow projections are provided on the sheath between the upper and lower constrictions. Preferably, the hollow projections extend around the whole circumference of the sheath and also over the lower constriction.
According to a preferred embodiment the contraceptive comprises a hood portion to sheath the glans of a user, a projecting pouch at a top end of the outer hood portion, an upper shrunken portion of smaller diameter than the hood portion and having an inwardly arcuately formed surface immediately beneath said hood portion, a lower shrunken portion of reduced diameter compared to that of the hood portion and a large number of protruding verrucae having a cavity at their outer ends provided on the circumferential surface below said hood portion and an outer circumferential surface extending from a lower edge portion of said upper shrunken portion to a position adjacent an edge portion of said lower shrunken portion.
The invention provides a new and improved condom that substantially reduces the risk of it slipping off or allowing discharged semen to leak out during its use. The invention further provides a new and improved contraceptive device that is economical to produce, simple, pleasurable and easy to use.
Preferred embodiments of the invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:- Figure 1 is a front view of one embodiment of the invention with a portion thereof cut away; Figure 2 is an enlarged sectional view of a part of the embodiment of Figure 1; and Figure 3 is a front view of another embodiment of the invention with a portion thereof cut away.
Referring to the drawings, there is shown in Figure 1 a cylindrical sheath comprising an upper hood portion 1 to coverthe glans of a user with a projecting pouch 6 formed at the free end thereof to receive discharged semen and also prevent its backflow or leakage. An upper necked-down constriction 2 of a smaller diameter than the upper portion 1 is arcuately shaped inwardly and is provided immediately beneath the upper portion 1. A lower necked-down constriction 3 is formed in the same manner as said upper necked-down portion 2 and is spaced therefrom. A large number of hemi-spherical protrusions 4 are provided over the body of the contraceptive device, of the type best described as a small verruca, each protrusion having an inwardly depressed portion or dimple 7.The verrucae 4 are formed on an outer circumferential surface located below the upper portion 1 as well as at a second circumferential surface extending from a lower edge portion of said upper necked-down portion 2 to a lower edge portion of the lower necked-down portion 3. As shown in Figure 3, the lower necked-down portion 3 may be replaced by a cylindrical portion 5 of a smaller diameter than the remainder of the body of the contraceptive device.
The small projecting verrucae members4 give sensual pleasureto women. The necked-down constriction is not only useful in preventing the contraceptive device from slipping off the penis of a user, but it also prevents any leakage of discharged semen. Since the lower necked-down portion 3 or the cylindrical portion 5 ofsmallerdiametertendto press down strongly on the blood vessels at the base of the wearer's penis, a useful aid in maintaining an erection of the penis for a longer time is obtained. It should also be noted that the protrusions 4 with their inwardly sunken portions 7 provide a stimulating, confortable sensation and effect to the sexual partner of the user due to the fact that they tend to stick to the wall of the vaginal canal and give titillation thereto.
