Abstract

A curtain hook is formed in three interlocking parts: two support parts (1 2) and a hook part (3). The support parts are fixed to a curtain reinforcing tape at spaced positions and are then coupled together so as to define folds in the curtain. The hook part is connected to the coupled support parts and engages a curtain rail. The support parts (1, 2) are preferably of identical construction and have interengaging stepped recesses (5) and also complementary projections and notches (7, 8) which act to prevent sideways separation of these parts. The hook part has a U-shaped section (9) which fits around the coupled support parts to prevent their separation in the front-to-back direction. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Curtain hook The present relates to a hook for supporting curtains, which hook can be mounted on a curtain in an extremely rapid and simple manner achieving at the same time the shaping of folds in such curtain.
More specifically the hook for supporting curtains is constituted by the functional combination of three parts one of which forms the hook proper and the other two of which constitutes supports fixable to a reinforcing tape which is associated with an edge of the curtain and which can be coupled to one another for example by dovetailing and which are provided with means for the fixing to same of the hook part.
The said two support parts can be fixed to the curtain suitably spaced apart from one another so that by the rear connection of same an undulation in said curtain of the desired magnitude is obtained, said supports in this case being fixed to the curtain on its rear face preferably with the aid of special staples.
The said supports may be consistuted by generally flat parts each provided with a special configuration whereby said parts can be coupled with their adjacent edges overlapping so as to be coplanar after the coupling, dovetailing means being provided which prevent the displacement of each part in respect of the other in the vertical direction. In addition each of these parts may have in one of its larger faces a semi-cylindrical channel so that after the connection of the parts the two channels are disposed in opposition and included in the same transverse plane permitting the connection on same of the actual hook which for such purpose has a U-shaped section with branches spaced apart in correspondence with the spacing between the channels of the supports, said hook thereby acting as a fixing element of the two supports relative to one another which prevents the frontal displacement of each in respect of the other, that is to say, which prevents disconnection of the supports.
The actual hook in addition to this U-shaped section for its connection to the supports and fixing of the latter has a further arcuate section intended for its connection to the suspension rod or rail of the curtain.
From the foregoing it can be appreciated that for the mounting of the hook of the invention it is sufficient to staple the various supports to the reinforcing tape of the curtain which a suitable spacing and it is possible to market such tape with the supports already fixed thereon, it being only necessary for the installation of the curtain to fix such tape to same as is usual and connect in pairs the various supports in an extremely rapid operation, such connection being made stable between supports by the disposition on each pair of the corresponding hook which can be carried out also in a simple and very rapid manner, the said hooks finally being connected to the corresponding supporting rod or rail to complete the installation.
The invention will now be described further by way of example only and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a view in side elevation of one of the two supports of one form of a hook for supporting curtains in accordance with the present invention; Figure 2 shows a plan view of the support of Figure 1; Figure 3 shows a view in side elevation of the second support complementary to the first support of Figure 1; Figure 4 shows a plan view of the second support of Figure 3; Figure 5shows a side elevation of the hook proper; Figure 6 shows one of the staples used for fixing the two supports to a curtain tape; Figure 7shows a detail in perspective of the three constituent parts of the hook duly coupled to one another, the fixing staples of the two supports also being shown; and Figure 8 shows a perspective view of a curtain provided with supporting hooks as shown in Figure 7.
As shown in the drawings, a hook for the suspension of curtains is constituted by three basic parts, two supports 1 and 2 and a hook proper 3.
The two supports 1 and 2 are constituted by respective parts identical to one another each of which has a body which is generally flat and of rectangular contour in one of the large faces of which there is a semi-cylindrical channel 4 and on the opposite face of which there is a large notch 5 open towards an edge 6 which is adapted to couple with the other part. This notch 5 has a greater depth in the inner half than in the half adjacent to the said edge 6 so that between these sections there is defined a step which on coupling both parts 1 and 2 prevents the transverse displacement of each part in respect of the other.
In correspondence with the notch 5 each body 1,2 has in its middle zone a projection 7 preferably of half reed shape as well as on its edge 6 a notch 8 of identical shape. The projection 7 engages the notch 8 when the parts are coupled and this prevents vertical displacement of each part in respect of the other.
Thus, in view of their special shape, the supports 1,2 can only be coupled by overlapping of each in respect of the other, lateral displacement being prevented due to the steps existing in the notches 5 and vertical displacement being prevented due to the dovetailing of the projections 7 with the notches 8. This being so, since the coupling is effected by frontal approach of each support in respect of the other the possibility would arise for uncoupling to occur by displacement of the parts in the opposite direction; this is prevented by the actual hook 3 which has a section of U-shape 9 the parallel limbs of which are spaced apart in correspondence with the spacing between the channels 4 of the coupled supports 1 and 2.As can be seen in Figure 7 when the actual hook 3 occupies its final position on the assembled supports 1 and 2, said supports form a rigid block and cannot be uncoupled by pulling in any direction without previous removal of the actual hook 3.
Each of the supports 1 and 2 is fixed to the tape 10 which constitutes the top edge reinforcement of the curtain 11, by means of staples 12 so that the weight of the curtain is transmitted through the tape 10 to the supports 1 and 2 and these transmit such weight in turn to the actual hook 3 and tend to be displaced by the action of the weight towards the bottom of the U-shaped section 9 of the said hook whereby the uncoupling of such hook accidentally is completely impossible.
The adequate fixing of the supports 1 and 2 on the reinforcing tape 10 of the curtain at a predetermined spacing permits association of the said supports in pairs such as to produce simultaneously the folds 13 of the curtain, all this being effected in an extremely rapid and simple operation in as much as it is only necessary to overlap one support on the other and fix them finally with the coupling of the actual hook 3 which in its turn is coupled to the curtain suspension rod or rail.
CLAIMS (Filed 25 June 1982) 1. A hook for the suspension of curtains, characterised in that it is constituted by the functional combination of three parts, two of which function as supports and are adapted to be fixed to a reinforcing tape at the upper edge of a curtain suitably spaced apart to achieve by the coupling of such parts the production of suitable folds in the curtain, and the third which parts constitute the hook proper which is connected to the former two parts and is adapted to form the connecting link with a suspension rail.
