Abstract

To achieve energy economies in comparison with the case where a tenter frame is preceded by separate pre-dryer apparatus, a heat-insulated housing 1 is formed, below one half of its length, with pre-dryer compartments 6 through one or more of which the web-form material 12 is fed firstly (as indicated by chain- dotted lines) before being reintroduced into tentering frame compartments 5 by way of entrance 15. Gaseous or vaporous heat- treatment medium is blown from nozzle boxes 10, (9), the latter Fig. 2 (not shown), in the compartments 6, 5, respectively. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Apparatus for the heat treatment of web-form textile material This invention relates to apparatus for the heattreatment of web-form textile material made of natural and/or synthetic fibres, comprising a heatinsulated housing in which there are rollers for guiding the textile material, a ventilator arrangement for circulating a gaseous or vaporous heat-treatment medium, and nozzle boxes for acting upon the web-form textile material with the heat-treatment medium.
Such apparatus, known as a tentering frame, serves for performance of finishing processes, in which the web-form textile material is fed to the apparatus with a specific moisture content, and leaves the apparatus in a dry state.
For ensuring effectiveness of certain specific finishing processes, as well as for energytechnology reasons, it is necessary to feed the web-form textile material to the tentering frame with a moisture content which does not exceed specific values. For this reason, often use is made, in advance of a tentering frame, of a so-called predryer which ensures that the textile material enters the tentering frame only with a specific moisture content.
The problem underlying the invention is to provide apparatus for the heat-treatment of webform textile material, in which the drying and heat treatment requires, overall, a minimum of heat energy for the treatment medium.
Making a start from the apparatus referred to at the introduction hereto, to solve this problem posed it is proposed that connected, in the direction of travel of the web-shaped textile material to a pre-dryer section which is equipped with rollers, there is a tentering frame section which is equipped with tentering chains, and both said sections are completely integrated in the heatinsulated housing.
The apparatus in accordance with the invention does indeed need, as a whole, more energy than a tentering frame which is separate from a predryer, whereas the two units previously arranged separately need, overall, more energy than the apparatus in accordance with the invention.
In accordance with a development of the invention, the pre-dryer section, consisting of several compartments or sections, is arranged under the tentering frame section which likewise consists of several compartments or sections, and nozzle boxes of the compartments of the pre-dryer section can be shut off by flaps selectively from the impingement of the gaseous or vaporous treatment medium.
With this development, the drying performance of the pre-dryer can be varied and thus be adapted to differing moisture contents of the textile material being treated.
In accordance with a particularly advantageous development of the invention, the web-form textile material, whilst by-passing a compartment or several compartments of the pre-dryer section, can be introduced through a respective closable inlet opening between two compartments into the pre-treatment section.
Finally, a development of the invention additionally provides for the fact that compartments of the pre-dryer section form, in pairs, respective structural units with individual compartments of the tentering-frame section.
With this development, the possibility emerges of constructing the apparatus, in any desired variation, from structural units which form tentering-frame compartments and structural units which form tentering-frame compartments with pre-dryer compartments.
An exemplified embodiment of an apparatus of the heat-treatment of web-form textile material in accordance with the invention is shown schematically in the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section through the apparatus; and Fig. 2 is a cross-section, enlarged in comparison with Fig. 1.
The apparatus as illustrated comprises a heatinsulated housing 1 enclosing a tentering-frame section 2 which extends over the entire length of the housing and a pre-dryer section 3 which extends thereunder, but only along half the length of the housing. The tentering-frame section 2 consists of two conventional tentering-frame compartments 4 and two tentering-frame compartments 5 which form a structural unit, in each-case with a pre-dryer compartment 6.
As shown by Fig. 2, tentering-frame compartments 5 and pre-dryer compartments 6 are constructed as one structural unit which encompasses a ventilator arrangement 7 connected to the pressure side 8 of which are nozzle boxes 9 and 1-0, in connection with which a heating arrangement 11, which heats the gaseous or vaporous heat-treatment medium, is provided at the side opposite to the ventilator arrangement 7.
Tentering-frame chains 1 3 extend through the tentering frame section 2, which chains 1 3 engage with the two side edges of the web-form textile material 12.
Guide rollers 1 4 are arranged in the pre-dryer section 3 in the compartments 6 above and below the path of travel of the textile material 1 2.
In operation of the apparatus, the web-form material being treated is conducted from below firstly through the pre-dryer section 3; thereafter it is passed through the tentering-frame section 2.
The textile material 1 2 passes from below through the compartments 6 of the pre-dryer section 3 and is conducted, by way of the rollers 14, out of the apparatus and then back through the pre-dryer section 3. In the pre-dryer section, gaseous or vaporous heat-treatment medium is blown from the nozzle boxes 10 uniformly onto the textile material 12. Then the textile material 12 arrives at the entrance 1 5 of the tenteringframe section 1 and is received, by its edges, by the tentering chains 13 and is conducted in transversely-stretched state through the tenteringframe section 2 where it is subjected to treatment by medium from the nozzle boxes 9.
In the illustrated case, there are two pre-dryer compartments 6, with respective tentering frame compartments, but of course the number of such compartments may be varied as may be desired.
Any of the compartments 6 of the pre-dryer section 3 which are not needed can be shut off, for example by a flap 16 being shifted into a closed position so that the supply by the respective nozzle box 10 of gaseous or vaporous heattreatment medium is prevented.
Moreover, the effective overall length of the pre-dryer section 3 can be varied in that the textile material 12 can be guided to enter between adjacent pre-dryer compartments 6, through an inlet opening such as is indicated at 17, into the pre-dryer section 3 so as to by-pass one or more of the pre-dryer compartments 6. Fig. 1 shows both cases, namely the fabric 12 being fed both for passage through both the illustrated pre-dryer compartments 6 and through one only of such compartments 6.
