Abstract
A flower pot is formed of transparent plastics material and is usable also a cloche. A rain catchment area is provided at the top when used as a cloche and can be punctured. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFiCATION
C @poR Material:- Transparent polyethelene or similar.
Thickness varies with different sizes.
Size:- The "Clochepot" must of necessity be made in various sizes and any comlbination of the measurements "A", "B" and "C" on section No 1 of this drawing in order to facilitate all types of plants.
Manufacwrn:- Can be either by vacuum, blow or injection moulding.
In Use:- OutdoorPrnpagater (Drawing No 4) the "Clochepot" is held in position over the seed of plant by the dished flange surrounding the base (marked "Y") which also serves to stiffen the unit. The catchment area on the top (marked "X") can easily be punctured to facilitate watering etc. or can be removed later to harden the plant gradually to the elements.
Flower Pot (Drawing No 5) when the "Clochepot" is use as a flower pot the area marked "Z" retains a level of water or plant food (controlled by puncturing area marked "X" on drawing) thus encouraging the growth of strong roots and reducing watering.
In use:-lndoorPropagater (Drawing No 6) the "Clochepot" when used as an indoor propagater has the advantage of retaining sufficient moisture to be left for long periods and can be used for mature plants when it is necessary to leave then for longer periods than normal.
The invention consists of a tapering truncated
cone with four vertical flutes for rigitity, a sunken
dish shape in the top and a trough surrounding the
base. The whole being manufactured in transparent
plastic material by any suitable manufacturing pro
cess. The dimensions A, B and C as shown on Draw
ing No. 1 have of necessity to be variable according to the size and shape of the plant concerned and to which of the following uses the unit is to be put;
Claim Na 1
When the unit (Refered to on drawings No 1 to 6 inclusive as a Clochepot) is used as a cloche to accelerate and protectthe growth of plants, either outdoors or in an unheated greenhouse, the trough at the base (marked Y on drawing No. 4) serves two purposes; firstly to keep the invention in place by the weight of the soil placed on it and secondly by puncturing the trough fertilizer can be fed to the plant roots if required. Likewise the dished area on the top (Marked X on drawing No. 4) can be used for watering or feeding the seeds or plants or may be removed to facilitate the hardening of the plant gradually to the elements.
Ventilation and moisture loss control is effected by puncturing the units as desired, the plastic used in the manufacture being of a type that facilitates this.
Claim No. 2
As shown on drawing No. 5 the invention may be used as a flower-pot which has by its design a trough (Marked Z on drawing No; 5) in which it is possible to place fertilizer which will not be washed away through any holes made in the area marked X on drawing No.5 for the purpose of the drainage of the pot during normal watering of the plant.
Claim No 3 As shown on drawing No. 6 the units may be made into a propagator by fastening by any convenient method an inverted unit over another, the bottom one being used as a flower-pot with the advantages as described in Claim No. 2 and the top unit providing all the other advantages as described in Claim
No. 1.
Claim No.4 The invention when invested and placed over potted plants greatly reduces the necessity for regular watering due to the reduction of moisture loss effected by the unit.
