Description

SPECIFICATION Guitar BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a guitar with a carrying strap fixed to the sound board and the finger board.
When playing the guitar, it is known for guitarists to hang it round one shoulder by means of a carrying or shoulder strap. If the carrying strap has a predetermined length or if it is adjusted to a particular length by the guitarist, its length cannot be varied again during playing e.g. in order to be able to perform rhythmic movements with the guitar. The reason is that when performing rhythmic movements, the guitarist must carry out these movements himself because due to the predetermined length of the carrying strap which is invariable when actually playing, the guitarist cannot perform rhythmic movements without participating in them himself. This is more particularly the case in that the carrying strap only permits a position change of the guitar if such a change is required during playing through corresponding movements of the guitarist.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The problem of the invention is to construct the guitar in such a way that when playing there is a certain relief of the pressure exerted on the guitarist's shoulder by the carrying strap enabling him to perform rhythmic movements with the guitar without having to perform corresponding movements with the body.
According to the invention, this problem is solved in that a guitar with a carrying strap fixed to the finger board and sound board is provided in which the strap is made from a rubber-elastic material.
The particular advantages resulting from the use of a rubber-elastic carrying strap are in particular that when playing the guitarist can e.g.
force the guitar away from the body or transfer it in to a lower position in order to play in the same position. Thus, it is possible to move the guitar to all sides without the guitarist's body having to follow these movements. Due to the elasticity of the carrying strap fixed to the guitar a large number of different movements can be performed therewith, which is not the case with a nonextensible carrying strap.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the length of the elastic carrying strap with the guitar attached is not increased, so that if the rubber-elastic carrying strap is constructed so as to be variable in length and the strap length is adjusted by the guitarist, the guitar assumes the position predetermined by the guitarist. During playing, the guitar can be moved to all sides without involving any additional loading to the guitarist's shoulder. The reason is that in this very area in which the carrying strap rests on the shoulder, a certain pressure relief occurs due to the rubber-elastic properties of the strap e.g. on moving away the guitar, i e. if tension is exerted on the strap it is distributed over the elasticity and extension area thereof.
When using a rubber-elastic carrying strap when playing a large number of different movements can be performed with the guitar.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The invention is described in greater detail hereinafter relative to non-limitative embodiments and the attached drawings, wherein show: Fig. 1 a front view of a guitar with a rubber elastic carrying strap.
Figs. 2 and 3 diagrammatic views of a guitar in the loaded and unloaded states.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE REFERRED EMBODIMENTS Fig. 1 shows a guitar 1 00 constructed in per se known manner and comprising a sound board 10, the finger board 1 the wrest pin means 12 and the springs 1 3. The carrying strap 20 is joined to the guitar 100 and in the embodiment of Fig. 1, .:whose one end is fixed to the back and to the *front end of sound board 10 of guitar 100 at 21 and whose other end is fixed to the other end of sound board 10 facing the wrest pin means 12 and to the back therefore at 22. However, it is also possible to fix this end of carrying strap 20 in the !vicinity of the wrest pin means.
Carrying strap 20 can be constructed in length variable manner. For this purpose, one end of the carrying strap can be passed over a ring, which is not shown in the drawing, and by means of a buckle or the like can be held displaceably on the other strap portion enabling the particular length of strap 20 to be adjusted by the guitarist. It is also possible to predetermine the length of strap 20.
Carrying strap 20 is made from a rubber-elastic belt in whose production suitable rubber-elastic materials are used.
The rubber-elasticity or extensibility of carrying strap 20 is matched to guitar 100 in such a way that in the normal position, i.e. in the unloaded state the guitar suspended on strap 20 in no way extends the latter. It is only if the guitarist when playing exerts a pressure of guitar 100 with his hands or arms in order to bring it e.g. into a lower position (Fig. 3) that strap 20 expands and readily adapts to the particular length changes.
The use of a rubber-elastic carrying strap 20 is particularly advantageous for guitars when they are used as rhythm instruments. Such a rubber elastic carrying strap can also be used on other guitar-like instruments normally carried by means of such a strap.
1. A guitar with a carrying strap fixed to the sound board and finger board, wherein the carrying strap comprises a rubber-elastic belt.
2. A guitar according to claim 1, wherein when the guitar is attached to the rubber-elastic carrying strap there is no extension in the length thereof.
