Abstract

A threaded ring (1) for the fixing of a structural part provided with a screw thread, such as a blade mounting in a food mixing vessel, the ring having a bore which has arranged therein an interrrupted screw head (2) of which the total length of the thread sections does not exceed the total circumferential length of the bore. The sections of the screw thread (2) are arranged in staggered relation to one another. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Threaded Ring for the Fixing of Blade Mountings in Mixing Vessels This invention relates to a threaded ring for the fixing of structural parts provided with threads, such as blade mountings in food mixing vessels.
In many cases, blade mountings are fixed in food mixing vessels by the fact that they carry a thread and are screwed up or tightened with the assistance of a locking nut. With such large threads and structural parts, which do not bear any heavy load, it has been generally adopted that wing nuts with few thread turns should be used.
In such a case, the actual body can be simply produced by casting, but the screw thread has to be subsequently cut, or a complicated mould having a threaded core has to be used.
According to the present invention, there is provided a threaded ring for the fixing of a structural part provided with a screw thread, such as a blade mounting in a food mixing vessel, the ring having a bore which has arranged therein an interrupted screw thread, of which the total length does not exceed the total circumferential length of the bore.
For a better understanding of the invention and to show how the same may be carried into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a diagrammatic partial section through a food mixing vessel, Figure 2 is a section through a threaded ring shown in Figure 1, Figure 3 is a developed view of the bore of the threaded ring shown in Figure 2, and Figure 4 is a plan view of the threaded ring shown in Figure 2.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 shows part of a food mixing vessel 4, which carries a mounting 5 for a food blender or beater blade 6.
The blade mounting 5 passes with a threaded extension 7 through the base of the mixing vessel 4 and is tightened at this position for fixing purposes. This is achieved by means of a threaded ring, which is constructed as a butterfly or wing nut 9.
A section through this butterfly or wing nut 9 is shown in Figure 2. It is to be seen that only partial thread sections 2 are provided in the bore 1 of the nut. If the bore 1 is developed, as shown in Figure 3, it can be seen that these thread sections 2 are arranged on at least two parallel lines 3. The total length of the thread sections 2 does not in any case exceed the total circumferential length of the bore 1, i.e. does not exceed the total length of the bore 1 as developed, and the sections 2 are arranged in staggered relation.
The plan view of the wing nut 9 shown in Figure 4 shows that the partial thread sections 2 in the bore 1 forms an interrupted thread.
Claims
1. A threaded ring for the fixing of a structural part provided with a screw thread, such as a blade mounting in a food mixing vessel, the ring having a bore which has arranged therein an interrupted screw thread, of which the total length does not exceed the total circumferential length of the bore.
2. A threaded ring as claimed in claim 1, wherein the interrupted screw thread is formed of partial thread sections arranged on at least two parallel lines extending around the bore of the ring.
3. A threaded ring as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein said screw thread is formed of partial thread sections which are arranged in staggered relation to one another.
4. A threaded ring for the fixing of a structural part provided with a screw thread, substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
