Animal traps. - A continuous-action trap for rats &c. comprises a platform A pivoted at A<1> and counterbalanced at A<2> so that normally the upper end C of this platform rests against the lower end of a baitbox B attached to the roof of the trap, thus dividing the inner chamber F from the entrance. When a rat treads on the upper part of the platform and depresses it a link E pulls the door D downwardly about its pivot D<1> to close the entrance to the trap, and when the rat &c. passes into the chamber F the weight A<2> restores the door D and platform A to the normal positions shown in Fig. 1.
