Abstract

A body B carries terminals B1, some of which project from the outer face at B2 adjacent recesses C2 in a selective body C. When used as a ceiling rose, the ends of the lighting flex are bared and passed via the central hole in the screw cap E and via bores C3 to recesses C2 where they are clamped against contacts B2 by tightening a single screw C4. A cord grid is provided by a ring E1 engaging grooves C5. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Electrical Joint Selective Body Box The wiring circuit is the same as the joint box system, only the selective body replaces the conventional ceiling rose, and is fastened by one screw only.
Patent relates to segment body B which as segments By, one is coloured, red for live wire the other green for earth wire.
Segments B2 protrudes beyond segment body B. One is coloured red and black for live return the other black for neutral.
Selective body C which has recesses C2 to house protruding segments B2. Also holes C3 which pass from C2 through selective body C, to C5 allow lighting flex to pass through.
The ends of the flex are stripped and bent over in recess C2 to make a good connection between C2 and B2, when selective body C is compressed to segment body B by selective body fastening screw C4 enabling the electric current to pass from B2 to lampholder completing circuit.
A: protection cover.
A2: securing screw for protection cover.
B: segment body.
B1: brass segment body containing grub screws.
B2: brass segment body which protrudes beyond segment body B.
C: selective body.
C2: recess for segment body B2.
C3: holes in selective body C.
C4: selective body fastening screw.
D: ceiling cover.
E: screw cap supporting ceiling cover D.
El : straining lock to support cable and lampholder.
C5: groove in selective body C above El straining lock.
Also appendant patent relates to, protruding segment B2 and recess C2 in selective body C making correct connection.
Locking groove C5 in selective body C above El straining lock, is to prevent the flex cables from being turned round by the screw cap and being damaged or fractured.
The electrical joint selective body boxes can be connected directly from the consumer unit and can be connected the same as the ring circuit.
Also the selective body which is fastened by one screw only has no terminal screws so making fitting easier.
Patents are direct contact connection segments B2 protruding beyond the joint body B.
Also the bare wire connection with B2 segment in recess C2 by one fastening screw only C4.
Protruding segment B2 and recess C2 in selective body C making correct connection.
Groove C5 in selective body C above El locking cap.
Claims
1. An electric joint box comprising of terminals or segments which protrude from a box. The selective body has recesses which are positioned and capable of housing the protruding terminals from the joint box when pressed together by one screw or other means. The recesses each have one hole to allow a wire to pass through the selective body and to be turned over in the recess.
When the selective body and joint box are pressed together a good connection is made between the protruding terminal and the bared wire in the recess. It is also a straining hold.
2. Optional Feature The lower end of the selective body as grooves C5, which prevents the wires from revolving with the screw cap and being damaged or fractured, when the screw cap is turned. The wire being pressed in the groove by the cap is also a straining hold for the lampholder etc.
These principles can be used for other electrical devices. Switches, lampholders, etc.
