Abstract

208,603. Gare, T., and Torkington, J. Sept. 30, 1922. Mats, stair pads, &c.- A mat, stair tread, carpet, or wearing surface is formed of rubber blocks 1 and, or bars of hollow cylindrical form or of rectangular form provided with longitudinal cylindrical holes, the blocks or bars being connected together at intervals by metal wires 2 provided with screwthreads and securing nuts 6. The blocks may have longitudinal ribs on the surface and also on their sides in which case the ribs interlock when the mat &c. is flat. The blocks may be of vulcanized rubber or moulded from waste rubber. If bars are used, they may be produced from vulcanized or waste rubber preferably in continuous lengths by means of a forcing machine.
