Abstract

A method of obtaining sulfur trioxide which consists in oxidizing sulphur dioxide in a non-moving layer of catalyst, is carried out either by periodically reversing, every 10-200 minutes, the direction of flow of the reaction mass containing sulphur dioxide through the layer of catalyst, or by changing the temperature of that reaction mass, supplied to the layer of catalyst, from 20-200`C up to 350-600`C during 10-200 minutes.
