Abstract

A vessel for dispensing fluid products comprises four basic parts disposed so that three of them form the vessel proper and the fourth forms a closure member 12, the said three components being so constructed that one forms the vessel body 1, another is a dispensing head 4 and the third forms a piston 9. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A vessel for dispensing fluid products The present invention is concerned with a novel vessel for dispensing fluid products which is of simple construction and has a wide variety of uses.
In general, the vessel comprises four parts, three of which form the vessel proper and the fourth is the stopper, which can be placed in position by means of a thread or by pressure or the like.
One of the three components forming the vessel constitutes the body, which is tubular and closed at the bottom, and there is at least one internal rib disposed along the generatrix.
Inside the body, there is a piston provided with grooves along the generatrix equal to the number of ribs inside the body and shaped so that the grooves receive the ribs and so that the piston can move up or down but not rotate.
The aforementioned piston has an axial threaded collar or neck containing an axial tubular rod externally threaded in the same manner. At the top, the rod is secured to the bottom part of a head formed with an orifice receiving the rod.
The head is disposed above the edge of the body and accordingly has an annular groove and the body has a likewise annular step so that the head can rotate but not be separated from the body.
Thus, when the head rotates, the associated rod rotates and, since the piston cannot rotate, it moves along the interior of the body owing to the screw effect between the piston and head, guided by the ribs between the piston and the body. The motion of the piston inside the body compresses the internal space containing the product, which is thus driven up through the threaded rod of the dispensing head and via the orifice in the top part.
The vessel according to the present invention will now be described in more detail, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a longitudinal section through one embodiment of the vessel according to the present invention; Figure 2 is a half-section along the line A-A in Figure 1; and Figure 3 is an elevational view of the vessel.
As can be seen from the drawings, a vessel according to the present invention for dispensing fluid products comprises the following four components: A tubular vessel body 1 which is closed at the bottom, the interior of which has one or more ribs 2 along the generatrix and the top open and of which has a circular bead 3 near the open end.
A dispensing head 4 externally comprises a pair of cylinders having a common axis and slightly different diameters, the cylinder of smaller diameter being at the top and the top surface 5 of which is convex and has a rounded edge.
The top surface 5 is provided with an orifice 6 corresponding to the junction with an externally threaded tubular rod 7 secured to the dispensing head at the interior thereof, this rod 7 reaching to the bottom of the vessel body 1.
The dispensing head 4 has a hollow interior following the shape of the exterior, leaving open the base of the cylinder of larger diameter.
In the interior and round the edge, there is provided a circular groove 8 coinciding in position with the circular bead 3 on the vessel body 1 so that the two components are anchored together and can rotate on one another but cannot be separated from one another.
Atubular piston 9 has one or more external grooves following the generatrix. The outer diameter of the piston fits exactly into the interior of the vessel body, the grooves thereof coinciding with the ribs 2 so that the piston can move but not rotate in the interior of the vessel body.
One end of the tubular piston is closed by a partition 10 provided at its centre with an orifice corresponding to another tubular element 11 which has a small diameter and is secured thereto and internally threaded, the thread of the tubular prolongation corresponding to the thread of the tubular rod 7 of the dispensing head.
The above-mentioned three components are fitted together so that when the dispensing head 4 rotates relative to the body of the vessel 1, the piston 9 moves inside the body due to the screw effect between the piston and the head, guided by the ribs betwee the piston and the body.
When the piston 10 moves inside the body, it compresses the internal space containing the product, which is driven up through the threaded tubular rod 7 of the dispensing head 4 and through the orifice in the top part 6.
The fourth component is a closure member 12 covering the top cylindrical part of the dispensing head 4 and having an internal projection 13 which closes the product discharge orifice 6. The closure member 12 can have any desired external shape and can be secured to the dispensing head for example by simple pressure or by a thread or bayonet joint.
Figure 3 shows the general shape and geometrical outlines of a preferred embodiment of the vessel according to the present invention although, of course, the vessel may be constructed with different geometrical outlines.
1. A vessel for dispensing fluid products, which comprises four basic parts disposed so that three of them form the vessel proper and the fourth forms a closure member, the said three components being so constructed that one forms the vessel body, another is a dispensing head and the third forms a piston.
2. A vessel according to claim 1, wherein the vessel body is tubular and closed at the bottom and has at least one internal rib along the generatrix and an external circular bead around the edge of the open end.
3. A vessel according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the dispensing head is cylindrical and is adapted to fit above the top edge of the vessel body and to rotate on it but not be separable therefrom, said dispensing
