Description

SPECIFICATION Hanging device for hanging a curtain or the like This invention relates to a hanging device for hanging a curtain or the like to a plurality of elements slidably mounted on a curtain guide, the said curtain having a plurality of securing parts attached along the top portion thereof.
Conventional arrangements for hanging curtains use a hook-and-eye system wherein the eyes are slidably mounted in a guide rail and the hooks are mounted at regular intervals along the top portion of the curtain. Such an arrangement has advantages in being adapted for use with a curtain drawing system utilizing cords and pulleys, but also has a disadvantage in that taking down and putting up the curtains is time consuming, as is the removal of hooks from securing tapes on the curtains which is necessary when the curtains are to be cleaned.
The hanging device of the invention allows the ready assembly or removal of curtains from elements slidably mounted on a curtain guide, and is readily adapted for use with elements which consist of circular rings slidably mounted on a curtain pole, having an inside diameter greater than the outside diameter of the curtain pole.
Such an arrangement has the known advantage of the use of such curtain rings, namely allowing easy drawing of the curtains, and which provide an aesthetic enhancement of the decorative effect of the curtains.
The invention provides a hanging device for hanging a curtain or the like to a plurality of elements slidably mounted on a curtain guide, the said curtain having a plurality of securing parts attached along the top portion thereof, characterised in that the said hanging device is of unitary construction and comprises a first part adapted to be removably attached to a said element and a further part mounted on a bridging portion adapted to receive a said securing part of the curtain.
A particularly important embodiment of the invention is one wherein the said securing parts attached to the curtain are buttons or pins, and the said other part of the hanging device is a housing disposed onthe said bridging part so as to receive said buttons and pins downwardly when the said device is attached to a said element on a curtain rod. In such an arrangement, the insertion of the buttons or pins downwardly into the housing means that the weight of the curtains retains the securing elements within the housing, while retaining the advantages of easy assembly.
Furthermore manufacturing costs of the device are low.
The invention is hereinafter described in further detail in the accompanying drawing which represents one non-limiting embodiment of the invention.
In the drawings: Figure 1 shows side and front views of a hanging device according to the invention Figure 2 shows side and front views of the device of Figure 1 attached to a curtain ring slidably mounted on a curtain pole; Figure 3 is a cross-section of a part of the hanging device of Figure 1 along the line X-X; Figure 4 is a plan view of a curtain with pins attached along a top portion thereof, and Figure 5 is a side view showing the pins of the curtain engaged in the hanging device of Figure 1.
In the drawings, the hanging device comprises a circular hook portion 1, a bridge portion 2 and a housing portion 3. The housing portion contains two longitudinal housings 4 with longitudinal slots 9 (Figure 3). The housing 3 is disposed obliquely across the intermediate portion 2 as shown, the open end pointing upwardly.
In preparing a curtain 7 for assembly in the hanging device of the invention, pins in the form of studs 8 are affixed to the top portion of the curtain (Figure 4) and adjacent studs dropped downwardly into the housings 4 whereby a pleated effect is provided to the top of the curtain as shown in Figures 4 and 5. If desired the studs 8 may be replaced by buttons, which need not be removed during cleaning.
1. A hanging device for hanging a curtain or the like to a plurality of elements slidably mounted on a curtain guide, the said curtain having a plurality of securing parts attached along the top portion thereof, characterised in that the said hanging device is of unitary construction and comprises a first part adapted to be removably attached to a said element and a further part mounted on a bridging portion adapted to receive a said securing part of the curtain.
2. A device according to Claim 1, wherein the said first part is a hook.
3. A device according to Claim 1 or Claim 2, wherein the said elements slidably mounted on a curtain guide are circular rings slidably mounted on a curtain pole having an inside diameter greater than the outside diameter of the said curtain pole.
4. A device according to any of Claims 1 to 3, wherein the said securing parts attached to the curtain are buttons or pins, and the said other part of the hanging device is a housing disposed on the said bridging part so as to receive said buttons and pins downwardly when the said device is attached to a said element on a curtain rod.
5. A device according to Claim 4, wherein said housing contains two cavities parallel to each other so as each to receive a said button or pin.
6. A hanging device as claimed in Claim 1, substantially as hereinbefore described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

The housing portion contains two longitudinal housings 4 with longitudinal slots 9 (Figure 3). The housing 3 is disposed obliquely across the intermediate portion 2 as shown, the open end pointing upwardly.
