Abstract

A pack for treating corrosion which consists of a cylindrical container (10) filled with a rust pacifier and having a lid (12) at one end. The lid has an externally projecting wire brush (16) for corrosion removal and an internally projecting soft hair brush (22) for application of the nut pacifier. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Corrosion treatment pack This invention relates to a corrosion treatment pack.
It is common practice to 'touch-up' the paint work on metal, for example on vehicle bodies, in order to cover areas where the paint cover has for some reason been damaged or even removed altogether. However such areas requiring touching-up as aforesaid are very frequently sites where corrosion of the metal occurs. If touch-up paint is applied over corrosion then no satisfactory bond between the paint and the metal can be obtained.
It is therefore desirable to treat metal corrosion on areas to be touched-up prior to the application of any paint and to that end the present invention has been made.
According to the invention there is provided a corrosion treatment pack comprising a container having a removable lid, an abrasive brush projecting from the exterior of the lid and a relatively soft brush projecting from the interior of the lid and being received in the container when the lid is in place.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings which shows a corrosion treatment pack in side elevation and partly in section.
Referring to the drawing the pack comprises a container 10 which is preferably of plastics and which is open at one end. The container is closed by an internally threaded cap 1 2 adapted to engage external threads on the container adjacent the open end thereof. A tapered boss 1 4 projects outwardly from the centre of the cap and terminates in a wire brush 1 6. A second boss 1 8 extends from the centre of the interior of the cap. The second boss receives the shank 20 of a relatively soft brush 22, the bristles of which are conveniently formed from natural or synthetic hair.
The pack is intended to be used as follows: The container is filled with a corrosion treatment liquid, for example a rust pacifier with the cap in place the area to be painted is abraded with the wire brush 1 6 to remove corrosion. The cap is then unscrewed and liquid in the container painted on the said area by means of the soft brush 22. After drying the area can then be 'touched-up' with paint.
1. A corrosion treatment pack comprising a container having a removable lid, abrasive means on the exterior of the lid and a relatively soft brush projecting from the interior of the lid and being received in the container when the lid is in place.
2. A pack as claimed in claim 1, wherein the abrasive means comprises a brush projecting from the exterior of the lid.
3. A pack as claimed in claim 2, wherein the bristles of the abrasive brush are made of metal.
4. A pack as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the bristles of the soft brush are made of natural or synthetic hair.
5. A pack as claimed in any preceding claim wherein a corrosion treatment liquid is placed in the container.
6. A pack as claimed in claim 5, wherein the corrosion treatment liquid is a rust pacifier.
7. A corrosion treatment pack substantially as described herein with reference to the accompanying drawing.
