Abstract

206,607. Imaoka, T. Aug. 18, 1922. Suction apparatus.-A suction dredger is provided with a rod i in the axial line and a rod j in a line at 45‹ to the axial line and passing through the rod i, whereby by oscillating the vessel through an angle of 90‹ with the rods i, j alternately engaging the river &c. bed to form centres of rotation, the vessel is advanced in a straight line. Crossed beams are provided with a series of apertures to receive the rod j, whereby the amount of advance of the vessel may be adjusted. The suction pipe c may be swung in a plane at right angles to the axial line of the vessel and the delivery pipe h has a pivotal mounting, whereby during the oscillation of the vessel, the pipe h may constantly deliver to a fixed trough arranged parallel to ,the line of advance of the vessel.
