Abstract

A spring 2 is held between a pair of contactors 1 which are arranged to engage a conductor 8, and a support 9 is fitted around the spring between said contactors. The gap between said contactors 1 is thereby slightly opened against the action of the spring 2 whereby the contactors 1 are appropriately positioned even though the conductor is not inserted. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Contact device BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the invention The present invention relates to a main contact device for electrically connecting a breaker to a main circuit.
Description of the prior arts Heretofore, it has been known to use such main contact devices shown in Figures 1 to 3. In Figure 1, the reference numeral (1) designates contactors which form one set with four contactors as shown in Figure 3; (2) designates a compression coil spring held between the contactors (1); (3) designates a T-shape spring hook which is inserted inside of the compression coil spring (2) from both sides and is held by a lock pin (4) so as to form a pair of the contactors (1) and the spring hook (3); (5) designates a holder which is fitted into the contactors (1) set in the one pair so as to assemble the parts as shown in Figure 3. The reference numeral (6) designates a pin inserted between the contactors (1) and the holder (5) so as to arrange the contacts as desired. The reference numeral (7) designates a terminal for connecting the contactors (1); and (8) designates a conductor for connecting it by the contactors (1).
When the conductor (8) is inserted into the main contactors (1) set as described above, the contactors (1 ) is opened at the center of the contacting parts with the terminal (7) whereby the spring hook (3) is actuated to the direction compressing the compression coil spring (2) through the lock pin (4) fitting to the contactors (1). Thus, when the conductor (8) is inserted into the main contactor, the contacting pressure is applied to the contactors (1) by the spring force of the compression coil spring (2). However, when the conductor (8) is not inserted, only spring hook (3) is opened by the compression coil spring (2). The spring force is not applied to the contactors (1), whereby the contactors (1) can not be held at the coaxial position to the terminal (7) without any support. Thus, the holder (5) is required and the compression coil spring (2) should be compressed so as to impart the effect the same as the effect inserting the conductor (8) by the holder (5).
However, in the holders having said structure, many kinds of the holders are needed depending upon the number of the main contactors and accordingly, it is expensive.
Summary of the invention In accordance with the present invention, there is provided independent main contactors which respectively have the force for holding each terminal.
The present invention is to provide a contact device which comprises a compression spring hooked between a pair of the contactors for holding a conductor; and a support for slightly opening a gap between both contactors by overcoming to the compression force of the compression spring whereby it is economical as a main contactor unit and can vary numbers of the main contactors. This is highly advantageous to use it in the practical purpose.
Brief description of the drawings Figure lisa plan view of the conventional main contactor; Figure 2 is a schematic view of a conventional holder; Figure 3 is a schematic view of a conventional assembled contactors; Figure 4 is a plan view of one embodiment of the contactor device of the present invention; Figures 5, 6 and 7 are respectively schematic views of embodiments of a support used in the present invention; and Figure 8 is a schematic view of one embodiment of assembled contactors of the present invention.
Detailed description of the preferred embodiments The present invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the conventional device. The main contactors are independently arranged to have each force for holding each terminal.
Referring to the drawings, one embodiment of the present invention will be illustrated.
In Figure 4, the support (9) is fitted to the outer part of each compression coil spring (2) of each main contactor and the main contactors (1) are assembled. The support (9) is brought into contact with the contactors (1).
The support (9) holds the contactors (1) under opening a gap of the contactors 1 so as to apply the spring force to the spring hook (3) by the compression coil spring (2). The size of the support (9) is set so that the size of the fitting part at the terminal side of the main contactors is smaller than the size of the terminal (7). When the main contactor having said structure is fitted to the terminal (7), the spring force of the compression coil spring (2) is applied to the contactors (1) by the terminal (7) and the support (9).
Therefore, the main contactor is held to be coaxial to the terminal (7) so as to independently fit each main contactor to the terminal as shown in Figure 8 even through the spring force of the compression coil spring (2) is applied through the terminal (7) and the support (9) to the contactors (1) and the conductor (8) is not inserted.
In the above-mentioned embodiment, a cylindrical tube type support (9) as shown in Figure 5 is used.
Thus, the same effect can be imparted by inserting the support which is shaped by a sheet metal press working as shown in Figures 6 or 7 when the support is inserted so as to hold under slight deviation of the compression coil spring.
1. A contact device which comprises a compression spring held between a pair of contactors which holds a conductor; and a support which is fitted between both said contactors so as to slightly open a gap between both said contactors by overcoming to the compression force of said compression spring.
2. A contact device according to Claim 1 wherein said support is a cylindrical tube which is fitted so as to surround said compression spring.
