Abstract

Hair drying equipment comprises a conventional hand-held hair dryer (1) with its electrical leads anchored to a plate (5) which can be secured to a table top. The plate has walls (18) which position a moulded cover (2) on the plate, and the cover cover has an indentation for receiving and supporting the hair dryer when the latter is not being used. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Improvements relating to hair drying equipment The present invention relates to hair drying equiment.
According to the invention, there is provided hair drying equipment comprising a support for electrical connections, a hand operated hair drying device adapted to be connected to the electrical connections, a cover for said support, and means on the cover for receiving and supporting the hair drying device.
Advantageously, the supply is a metal plate upon which is mounted means for receiving and interconnecting electrical leads from a source of electricity supply and from the hair drying device, and the plate has one or more sidewalls extending from the plate, the sidewalls serving to locate a cover in position over the plate.
The cover may be a plastics moulding having a recess or indentation which acts as a receiver for the hair drying device when the latter is not in use. The indentation may have two parts, in one of which the handle may be located, and in the otherofwhich portion of the barrel of the hair drying device, may be located.
The invention will hereinafter be described more particularly with reference to the accompanying drawings which illustrate, by way of example only, a preferred embodiment thereof. In the drawings, Figure lisa side view of the equipment in its rest position, Figure 2 is a perspective view of the cover, and Figure 3 shows the support and the electrical connections.
Referring to the drawings, the support is a metal plate 5 upon which is mounted a junction box 6 for receiving and inter-connecting electrical leads 7 from a source of electricity supply and electrical leads 8 from a hair drying device 1. The leads 8 from the hair drying device are located in a reinforced non-kink tube 9 which is secured to the plate 5 so that the hair drying device may not easily be removed.
The plate 5 has a first aperture 14 through which the leads 8 from the electricity supply may be fed to the junction box 6 which incorporates connectors by means of which the leads 7 and 8 may be joined, and a second aperture 15 forthe leads 7 from the junction block 6 to the hair drying appliance 1. Adjacent the aperture 15 is a securing means 16 for securing the tube 9 to the plate 5 at a location adjacent the aperture 14.
Advantageously the plate 5 has one or more sidewalls 18 extending from the plate, the sidewalls 18 serving to locate, in position over the plate, a cover 2. The cover 2 is a plastics moulding in the exterior of which is formed a recess or indentation 3 which acts as a receiver for the hair drying device when the latter is not in use. The indentation may have two inter-connecting parts, in one part3a of which the handle may be located, and in the other part 3b of which portion of the barrel of the hair drying device may be located.
When the equipment is to be used on a table, the plate 5 is secured to the table top 20, by retaining screws (not shown) or otherwise, and the cover 2 fits over the plate 5 contacting the exterior of the side walls 18, the mouth ofthe cover being in the base thereof. When the equipment is to be used on a ver tical wall, or other such support, rather than a hori zontal table top, one of the sidewalls of the plate may be secured to the wall, so that the disposition of the recess relative to ground is generallythe same in both cases. If desired, and in particular for the wall mounted case, alternative means (not shown) of securing the cover on the plate may be provided.
Apertures 12 are provided for the retaining screws.
1. Hair drying equipment comprising a support for electrical connections, a hand operated hair dry ing device adapted to be connected to the electrical connections, a cover for the support, and means on the cover for supporting the hair drying device.
2. Hair drying equipment as claimed in Claim 1, in which the support is a metal plate upon which is mounted means for receiving and inter-connecting electrical leads from a source of electricity supply and from the hair drying device.
3. Hair drying equipment as claimed in Claim 2, in which plate has one or more sidewalls extending from the plate, the sidewalls serving to locate a cover in position over the plate 4. Hair drying equipment as claimed in Claim 3, in which the cover is a plastic moulding having a recess or indentation which acts as a receiver for the hair drying device when the latter is not in use.
5. Hair drying equipment as claimed in Claim 4, in which the indentation has two parts, in one of which the handle may be located, and in the other of which portion of the barrel of the hair drying device may be located.
6. Hair drying equipment as claimed in any one of Claims 2 to 6, in which the plate may be secured to a table top or to a wall.
7. Hair drying equipment as claimed in any one of the preceding Claims 2 to 6, in which the leads from the hair drying device are located in a reinforced tube secured between the plate and the hair drying device.
8. Hair drying equipment substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to, and as illustrated in, the accompanying drawings.
