In apparatus for casting curved stereotype plates of the kind in which a number of casting-boxes are alternatively presented to a single metal delivery outlet, the casting-boxes are accommodated on a number of tracks or docks from which they may be transferred in any order to a single track leading to the casting position, by means of a turntable. In one arrangement, five casting-boxes, for casting plates of different curvature, are adapted to be moved in any order into operative connection with a metal outlet 13 and with a driving and plate-trimming mechanism 4 from a number of tracks or docks 11, 11<a> - - 11<d> by means of a turntable 10 and a track 9. Each casting-box is mounted on a plate 2 provided with rollers 7 to engage the tracks and with additional rollers 8 to engage rails 12 which are slightly higher than the track 9 so as to bring the box into correct position with respect to the metal outlet 13 and the driving and trimming mechanism 4. In this position the plate 2 may be secured to the base plate 3 of the driving and trimming mechanism by removable pins 6. The invention may be applied to an installation having two or more metal pots, each with a series of casting-boxes, and, in this case, the tracks 11, 11<a>, &c. of each series may be adapted to communicate with those of the other series by means of one or more additional turntables.
