Abstract

A dispenser for viscous and liquid substances, particularly liquid soaps, detergents and disinfectants, comprises a container (10) for the substance with a double-bottom within which is removably housed a delivery unit (13) which communicates with said container and which includes a body (14) containing a pump (20) having the form of a chamber (23) with resilient walls and provided with a delivery nozzle (27) with a sealing rim, and a manually operated piston (28) which engages one wall of the chamber, provision being made for a non-return valve (26) between said container and said delivery unit. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Dispenser of viscous and liquid substances, in particular soaps, detergents and disinfectants The present invention relates to a manually operated dispenser for dispensing viscous and liquid substances, of extremely advantageous construction and operation.
The dispenser according to the invention is particularly well-suited for the delivery of soaps, detergents and disinfectants, both liquid and in paste form, in large communities such as offices, factories, hotels, places of refreshment, etc.
The object of the present invention is to provide a dispenser of highly simple construction and extremely reliable operation, with a minimum number of moving parts and capable of being repaired and cleaned even by unskilled personnel.
To this end, the dispenser of viscous and liquid substances, in particular soaps and liquid detergents, according to the invention is characterized by the fact that it comprises, in combination: a container for the substance to be dispensed featuring a double-bottom within which is housed in removable manner a delivery unit communicating with said container, the said delivery unit consisting of a body containing a pump having the form of a chamber with elastically yielding walls, the said chamber being provided with a delivery nozzle having a seal-rim, and a manually operated piston which acts on one wall of said chamber, provision being made for a non-return valve between said container and delivery unit.
The structural and operational characteristics of the invention, and its advantages, will be made clearer by the following exemplifying description referred to the attached drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a blown-up side elevation showing a dispenser embodied according to the invention; and Figure 2 is a partial cross-sectional view through the delivery unit of the dispenser of Figure 1.
With reference to the drawings, the dispenser according to the invention consists structurally of a parallelepiped container 10, with lid 11, adapted to be snap-fitted in a freely removable manner onto an L-shaped support 12 secured to a wall.
The container 10 features a double-bottom within which is housed in removable manner a liquid delivery unit 13.
Characteristically, the said unit 1 3 comprises a parallelepiped body 14, on two opposite sides of which are formed ribbings 1 5 which are slotted removably into respective slots 16 of two opposed walls 1 7 of a seating 1 8 in the double-bottom of the container intended to house the delivery unit 13.
The body 14 features a vertical cylindrical seating 19 for a pumping element 20, and a horizontal seating 21 for a pushbutton 22 which actuates said pumping element 20.
The pumping element 20 consists of a cylindrical chamber 23, which is elastically yielding and is provided with a seal flange 24 secured within a depression 25 at the top of the body 14. The chamber 23 is open-top, and communicates with the tank of the container 10 through a non-return valve 26. On its bottom side, the chamber 23 is provided with a delivery nozzle 27 with seal-rim and is preferably provided with an anti-splash skirt 30.
The pushbutton 22 is solid with a piston 28 which acts on the flexible wall of the chamber 23 of the pumping element.
Delivery of the liquid - for example soap or detergent or disinfectant -- is caused simply by pressing the pushbutton 22, thus causing the piston 28 to squash the flexible wall of the chamber 23, as a result of which a fraction of the liquid contained in said chamber will be expelled through the nozzle 27 and an aligned hole 29 of the base of the support 12, which closes the double-bottom of the container.
When the pushbutton 22 is released, the chamber 23 returns to its normal expanded condition owing to its elasticity, the pressure of the overlying column of liquid and atmospheric pressure. The expansion of the chamber 23 naturally restores the pushbutton 22 to its normal released condition.
The operation of the delivery unit described above is extremely reliable, in that it is wholly without complex or easily breakable moving parts and also because the products themselves are not in contact with the pumping element. It is also readily removable, simply by sliding out from the bottom, even by unskilled personnel, after first removing the container from the L-shaped support. Such removal is necessary for servicing and/or replacement of parts.
The pumping element 20, which is not costly, can thus be replaced if necessary simply by sliding it off its seating, after first releasing the flange from the delivery body.
