Abstract
A sheet-singling device for use in a sheet processing machine comprises two suction conveyor systems each alternately movable in the direction of sheet-conveying (arrowed). Each suction conveyor system comprises two suckers (2.1, 2.2 and 3.1, 3.2) arranged symmetrically about the sheet centre line and each carried by one of four couplers (4.1, 4.4 and 4.2, 4.3). Levers (5.1, 5.4) of a first one of the suction conveyor systems are connected fast to a first shaft (7) and further levers (6.1, 6.4) thereof are rotatable on a second shaft (8). The second suction conveyor system is connected to shafts (7 and 8) in converse manner. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Sheet-singling device
The present invention relates to a sheetsingling device for sheet-processing and sheettreating machines, especially printing machines.
A sheet-singling device (DD1 1 185) is known, which is equipped with two suction conveyor systems arranged one beside the other and operating alternatingly.
Due to the eccentric points of engagement of the suction conveyor system it is possible for skew sheets to be conveyed.
Furthermore, the driving mechanisms are so unfavourable in terms of gear technology that the devices can not be used on high performance machines.
According to the present invention there is provided a sheet-singling device for use in a sheet processing machine, the device comprising a first and a second suction conveyor system each comprising two suckers which are arranged symmetrically about the sheet centre line and which are carried by a respective one of two double rockers so drivingly coupled to drive means as to cause the first and the second conveyor system to move alternately in sheet conveying direction.
Preferably input members of the two double rockers of the first suction conveyor system are connected fast with a first driven shaft and output members thereof are rotatably mounted on a second driven shaft, and input members of the two double rockers of the second suction conveyor system are connected fast with the second driven shaft and the output members thereof are rotatably mounted on the first driven shaft.
Advantageously the first and second driven shafts are each connected fast with a respective one of two cam followers which each cooperate with a respective one of two cams mounted on a common drive shaft to rotate therewith.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be more particularly described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing, the single figure of which shows a device embodying the invention in perspective view.
Referring now to the drawing, a sheet-singling device is arranged above a sheet stack 1 containing sheets to be singled and conveyed in arrow direction:
The sheet-singling device comprises two suction conveyor systems 2 and 3 operating alternately. First suckers 2.1 and 2.2 and second suckers 3.1 and 3.2 are arranged symmetrically about the sheet centre line, and are respectively connected with couplers 4 of double rockers 4, 5 and 6 which are connected in turn with two driven shafts 7 and 8.
The input members 5.1 and 5.4 of the double rockers of the first suction conveyor system 2 are connected fast with a first of the driven shafts 7 and the output members 6.1 and 6.4 of the double rockers are rotatably connected with a second of the driven shafts 8. The input members 5.2 and 5.3 of the double rockers of the second suction conveyor system 3 are connected fast with the second shaft 8 and the output members 6.2 and 6.3 of the double rockers are rotatably connected with the first shaft 7. Connected with the shafts 7 and 8 are respective roller levers 12 and 13, which each co-operate with a respective cam 10 and 11 so arranged on a common drive shaft that they are displaced in course of motion through 1 800 one from the other. The operation of the device is described in the following.
The drive shaft 9 is rotated so that the shafts 8 and 7 are each set into pivotal movement through the respective cams 10 and 11 and roller levers 13 and 12.
Through displacement by the cams and roller levers the course of movement of one shaft precedes the other by a rotational angle of 1 800 and results in an alternating movement with respect to a working cycle of 3600.
The double rockers 4, 5 and 6 and the suction conveyor systems 2 and 3 connected with the couplers 4 of the double rockers are set into motion through the input members 5 connected with the shafts 7 and 8. The movement of the suction conveyor systems 2 and 3 and thereby the movement of the sheets to be singled takes place in sheet running direction and in the-shape of a circular arc in the plane of conveying. A nonskewed sheet-singling is assured by the suction conveyor systems 2 and 3 arranged symmetrically to the sheet centre line. The simple construction of the drive gear makes possible the use of the device even in fast-running machines.
1. A sheet-singling device for use in a sheet processing machine, the device comprising a first and a second suction conveyor system each comprising two suckers which are arranged symmetrically about the sheet centre line and which are carried by a respective one of two double rockers so drivingly coupled to drive means as to cause the first and the second conveyor system to move alternately in sheet conveying direction.
2. A sheet-singling device as claimed in claim 1, wherein input members of the two double rockers of the first suction conveyor system are connected fast with a first driven shaft and output members thereof are rotatably mounted on a second driven shaft and input members of the two double rockers of the second suction conveyor system are connected fast with the second driven shaft and the output members thereof are rotatably mounted on the first driven shaft.
3. A sheet-singling device as claimed in claim 2, wherein the first and second driven shafts are each connected fast with a respective one of two cam followers which each cooperate with a respective one of two cams mounted on a common drive shaft to rotate therewith.
4. A sheet-singling device for use in a sheet
