Abstract

A method of, and apparatus for transmitting electrical power along the borehole of an oil or gas well being drilled or in production. The invention has particular application in downhole monitoring, an electrical sensor (10) for the particular parameter feeding its output signals to A', B' and via, respectively, an insulated central section of the tubing string (2) and the casing (1) these signals being withdrawn at A, B for suitable monitoring. An isolating sub (11) for electrically insulating the central section of the string is disclosed.

Description

The application was originally made under the Patent Cooperation Treaty
with the United Kingdom Patent Office acting as the receiving office on (86) 28 Sept 1979, being given an application number PCT/GB79/00158. The application was searched by the European Patent Office acting as the I mernationa I Search Authority (ISA), and published by the Internationa I Bureau on (87) 17 April 1980 under serial ntimberW080/00727 in the English language. The test of the application is contained in the publication made by the International Burea as above identified.
