Abstract

A twisting-and-shaping member for a ringless spinning device comprises a rotor having a disc 2 with slots 5 for the passage of air and a channel for the passage of fibres. A resilient clamp is located below the disc and adjoins its bottom surface. Fibre-retaining projections 8 are located on a top surface of the disc between the slots. The end wall 13 of each slot which is closest to the disc axis is inclined and is arranged such that the distance from the disc axis to the end wall of the slot across the top surface of the disc is shorter than the same distance over the bottom surface of the disc. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Twisting-and-shaping member for ringless spinning device The present invention relates to ringless spinning devices such as rotor-type spinning machines and, more particularly, it relates to twisting-and-shaping members for such devices.
In accordance with the present invention, disclosure is made of a twisting-and-shaping member for a ringless spinning device, comprising a rotor having a disk; said disk having through slots for the passage of air and a channel for the passage of fibres; a resilient clamp located below the disk and adjoining a bottom surface thereof; fibre-retaining projections located on a top surface of the disk between the through slots thereof; an end wail of each through slot, located closer to the disk axis, being made inclined and arranged such that the distance from the disk axis to the end wall of the through slot over the top surface of the disk is shorter than over the bottom surface of the disk.
Owing to the inclined position of the end wall of through slots, there is less likelihood of the clogging of a bushing seat and of the place of clamping the yarn between the bushing and ball thanks to the fact that the air flow carrying contaminating impurities, fluff and short fibres, upon getting onto the inclined end walls of the slots, moves over the surface of the latter and further tangentially thereto in the direction of the disk periphery. This helps reduce the number of breaks in the yarn and produce yarn of more stable quality.
In accordance with the invention, the inclined end wall of each through slot can be made plane or curvilinear.
The present invention will be better understood upon considering the following detailed description of an exemplary embodiment of the twisting-and-shaping member for a ringless spinning device, according to the invention, with due reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a diagrammatic view of the twistingand-shaping member according to the invention, in longitudinal section; Figure 2 is a diagrammatic plan view of the twisting-and-shaping member of the invention; and Figure 3 shows part of the disk with a through slot whose inclined end wall is made curvilinear.
Referring now to Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawings, the herein disclosed twisting-andshaping member for a ringless spinning device comprises a rotor 1 having a disk 2 and a resilient clamp 3, said member being coupled via spindle 4 to a rotating drive of any prior art design not shown in the drawings.
Provided in the disk 2 are through slots 5 (Fig.
2) adapted for the passage of air and a through channel 6 for the passage of fibres. On a top surface 7 (Fig. 1) of the disk 2 between the through slots 5, say, equidistant with respect to the axis 0--0 of the disk 2, projections 8 are located designed for retaining fibres.
The resilient clamp 3 is located below the disk 2 and adjoins its bottom surface 9, said resilient clamp including a bushing 10 aligned on the axis 0--0 of the disk 2 and a ball 11 located between the bushing 10 and the disk 2 (as shown in Fig. 1) and contacting the disk. In the area of contact of the ball 11 with the bushing 10 there is formed an elastic bundle of fibres which are twisted into yarn.
The bushing 10 is resiliently urged towards the disk 2 by means of a spring 12.
The end wall 13 of each through slot 5, located closer to the axis 0-0 of the disk, is made inclined and arranged such that a distance 1 from the axis 0--0 of the disk 2 to the end wall 13 of the through slot 5 over the top surface 7 of the disk is shorter than a distance 11 over the bottom surface 9 of the disk 2.
The inclined end wall 13 of each through slot 5 may be made plane, as shown in Figs 1 and 2, or curvilinear, as shown in Fig. 3.
The herein disclosed twisting-and-shaping member operates in the following manner.
Upon rotation of the rotor 1, loosened fibres delivered by the air flow are deposited on the surface of the disk 2 defined by the projections 8 whereupon said fibres are drawn into the channel 6 and clamped between the ball 11 and the end of the bushing 10 to be twisted into yarn.
The air flow transporting the fibres to the disk 2 withdraws via through slots 5 in the disk, carrying away impurities, fluff and short fibres whereby the yarn is cleaned of impurities. In so doing, the air flow is guided by the inclined end walls 13 of the through slots 5 and diverted from the centre of the disk towards its periphery, and then removed to a suction system, while waste impurities conveyed by the air flow move along the inclined end walls 13 and then tangentially thereto in the direction of the periphery (rim) of the disk, which results in reduced risk of clogging of the seat of the bushing 10 and the area of its contact with the ball 11.
The resulting yarn is characterized by a more stable quality.
The use of such a twisting member in devices for ringless spinning helps reduce the number of breaks in the yarn.
