Description

SPECIFICATION Appliance for assisting penile erection This invention relates to an appliance for assisting penile erection.
According to the present invention, there is provided an appliance for assisting penile erection, which comprises a support structure for the penis and a plurality of straps or loops connected to said support structure and shaped to enable the user to hold the appliance in position on his body, wherein (a) the appliance is integrally formed of a flexible elastomeric material, and (b) the support structure, or the support structure and the adjacent portions of said straps or loops, are shaped so that the foreskin of the penis is pulled towards the pelvis when the appliance is worn.
The support structure can be a ring of material disposed at the conjunction of the straps or loops, or it can have the form of a "Y"-piece or "V-piece of material disposed at the conjunction of the straps or loops. In different embodiments of the present invention, the straps or loops are adapted to be worn over the shoulders; around the neck, waist or hips; about the waist and thighs; and around the scrotum.
The material from which the appliance is formed is a flexible elastomeric material, advantageously a natural rubber. The appliance is formed integrally so as to provide the maximum comfort to the wearer, and the minimum inconvenience to his partner during sexual intercourse. The applicance can be coloured so as to match the skin tone of the wearer.
The thickness of the flexible elastomeric material is preferably from 0.2 cm to 1.0 cm; a thickness of from 0.3 cm to 0.7 cm will generally be the most suitable.
The width of the straps or loops will generally be from 5 to 25 mm. The preferred width is from 8 to 20 mm. The dimensions given above refer to the appliance when the elastomeric material is in its relaxed condition as opposed to its stretched condition.
When the appliance is used, it pulls the foreskin of the wearer towards and against his pelvic region, thus assisting penile erection. Embodiments of the applicance may prevent the foreskin from slipping backwards and forwards when sexual intercourse is in progressive. Embodiments of the appliance may also be beneficial to the wearer by virtue of the fact that they can expose the natural shape of the penis which may result in more satisfactory sexual intercourse.
The appliance may create interest and restore confidence in men who are partially impotent because the action of the appliance in pulling back the penile foreskin provides sufficient stiffness to enable the wearer of the appliance to partake in satisfactory sexual intercourse.
For a better understanding of the invention, and to show how the same may be carried into effect, reference will now be made, by way of example, to the accmpanying drawings, which show presently preferred embodiments of the appliance, and in which: Figure 1 is an isometric view of a first embodiment of the appliance; Figure 2a, 2b and 2c are, respectively, a front elevation, a rear elevation and a side elevation of the appliance shown in Figure 1; Figure 3 is an isometric view of a second embodi ment of the appliance of the invention; Figures 4a, 4b, and 4c are respectively, a front elevation, a rear elevation and a side elevation of the appliance shown in Figure 3; Figure 5 is an isometric view of a third embodiment of the invention; Figure 6a is a front elevation, and Figure 6b is a side elevation, of the appliance shown in Figure 5;; Figure 7 is an isometric view of a fourth embodiment of the invention; Figures 8a, 8b and 8c are, respectively, a front elevation, a rear elevation and a side elevation of the appliance shown in Figure 7; Figure 9 is a an isometric view of a fifth embodiment of the invention; and Figures iota, lOb and lac are, respectively, an end elevation, a front elevation and a side elevation of the appliance shown in Figure 9.
Referring now to Figures 1 and 2, the appliance comprises a support region 1 located at the conjunction of straps 2, 3 and 4. A further strap 5 extends between the ends of straps 2, 3 and 4 which are remote from support structure 1. The strap 5 is worn around the waist, and the penis is supported by the "V"-shaped area between straps 3 and 4. Strap 2 extends between the testicles and extends rearwardly towards the waist strap 5.
Referring now to Figures 3 and 4, this embodiment has a support structure 6 in the form of a ring of material disposed around an aperture 7. Support structure 6 is located at the conjunction of straps 8 and 9. Strap 8 extends between the testicles and under the crutch of the wearer, while strap 9 is located around the waist. The aperture 7 is shaped so that it can hold back the penile foreskin which is pulled towards the pelvis of the wearer.
Referring now to Figures 5 and 6, there is shown an embodiment of the invention in which the penile support structure 10 is positioned at the conjunction of straps 11, 12 and 13. In use, the penis rests in the 'V'-shaped region between straps 12 and 13. These two straps are worn over the shoulders, while strap 11 passes between the testicles and under the crutch of the wearer.
Referring now to Figures 7 and 8, there is shown an embodiment generally similar to that shown in Figures 3 and 4, but differing therefrom in the mutual proportionality of its parts. Penile support structure 14 is in the form of a ring of material located about an aperture 15. The support structure is at the conjunction of straps 16 and 17. Strap 17 is located about the waist of the wearer, while strap 16 passes between the testicles and under the crutch.
Referring lastly to Figures 9 and 10, an embodiment is shown in which the penile support structure 18 is a ring of material enclosing an aperture 21.The penile support structure is located at the conjunction of loops 19 and 20. Loop 20 is worn around the waist of the wearer, while loop 19 is located about the testicles. In use, support structure 18 holds backthe foreskin of the penis, pulling ittowardsthe pelvis.
