Description

SPECIFICATION An Information Display Device The present invention relates to a device for the display of information in such a manner that the information can be altered, and in particular to the display of information relating to the price of an article or commodity to be sold.

Previous means of displaying such information have presented difficulties when the information displayed has to be changed, for instance a rise in the price of the article or commodity.

Should the price be printed on a display means such as a poster then, when the price changes, a complete new poster is required. It has been proposed to cover over the old price with the new one printed on a label or the like. This is time consuming and leads to an untidy display of the price.

According to the present invention an information display device comprises a background sheet, upon which a number of sheets marked with the information are detachably mounted, the means for detachably mounting the sheets on the background sheet, comprising a hook and pile fastener means such as that sold under the trade mark 'Velcro'.

Preferably at least some of the sheets are of transparent material so that permanent information on the background sheet may be viewed through them.

This display device has the advantage that the sheets can be readily detached and replaced by a sheet carrying the new information.

An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is an exploded view of the display devics, and Figure 2 is a front elevation of the display device.

In Figure 1, and Figure 2, there is shown a background sheet 10 onto which four information carrying sheets 1 1, 12, 13 and 14 may be detachably mounted.

The background sheet 10 is preferably made of Polystyrene and may have permanent information printed thereon. The sheets 11, 12, 13 and 14 are made from clear P.V.C. and these each have items of information printed thereon, in this case figures to indicate a price.

The attachment of the sheets 11, 12, 13 and 1 4 to the background sheet 10 is achieved by hook and pile fasteners such as those sold under the trade mark 'Velcro'. Each sheet 11, 12, 13 and 14 is provided with a strip of hooks 15 which cooperate with strips of piles 1 6, 1 7 attached to the sheet 10. Thus it is possible for each sheet to be readily removed from the poster 10 and to be replaced in a different position.

Sheets 13 and 14 may be of greater length than sheets 11 and 12 and, with the information printed at the bottom of these sheets, the printing on sheets 11 and 12 may be viewed through the clear portion of sheets 13 and 14, so that all the information sheets may be attached at the top of the sheet 1 0.

A further clear information sheet, carrying for instance a sales slogan, may be similarly attached to overlie the sheets 1 1, 12, 13 and 14.

A further column of sheets (not shown) could be added onto the poster to enable a three figure number to be displayed.

In a further embodiment (not shown), either a further number of sheets may be mounted on the reverse side of the background sheet 10, or a second background sheet may be mounted back to back to the sheet 10, to enable information to be displayed on each side of the assembly.

Claims

1. An information display device comprising a background sheet upon which a number of information sheets marked with information to be displayed are detachably mounted by means of hook and pile fastening means.

2. An information display device as claimed in Ciaim 1, in which the information sheets are at least partly transparent so that information permanently on the background sheet may be seen through them.

3. An information display device substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

SPECIFICATION An Information Display Device The present invention relates to a device for the display of information in such a manner that the information can be altered, and in particular to the display of information relating to the price of an article or commodity to be sold. Previous means of displaying such information have presented difficulties when the information displayed has to be changed, for instance a rise in the price of the article or commodity. Should the price be printed on a display means such as a poster then, when the price changes, a complete new poster is required. It has been proposed to cover over the old price with the new one printed on a label or the like. This is time consuming and leads to an untidy display of the price. According to the present invention an information display device comprises a background sheet, upon which a number of sheets marked with the information are detachably mounted, the means for detachably mounting the sheets on the background sheet, comprising a hook and pile fastener means such as that sold under the trade mark 'Velcro'. Preferably at least some of the sheets are of transparent material so that permanent information on the background sheet may be viewed through them. This display device has the advantage that the sheets can be readily detached and replaced by a sheet carrying the new information. An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is an exploded view of the display devics, and Figure 2 is a front elevation of the display device. In Figure 1, and Figure 2, there is shown a background sheet 10 onto which four information carrying sheets 1 1, 12, 13 and 14 may be detachably mounted. The background sheet 10 is preferably made of Polystyrene and may have permanent information printed thereon. The sheets 11, 12, 13 and 14 are made from clear P.V.C. and these each have items of information printed thereon, in this case figures to indicate a price. The attachment of the sheets 11, 12, 13 and 1 4 to the background sheet 10 is achieved by hook and pile fasteners such as those sold under the trade mark 'Velcro'. Each sheet 11, 12, 13 and 14 is provided with a strip of hooks 15 which cooperate with strips of piles 1 6, 1 7 attached to the sheet 10. Thus it is possible for each sheet to be readily removed from the poster 10 and to be replaced in a different position. Sheets 13 and 14 may be of greater length than sheets 11 and 12 and, with the information printed at the bottom of these sheets, the printing on sheets 11 and 12 may be viewed through the clear portion of sheets 13 and 14, so that all the information sheets may be attached at the top of the sheet 1 0. A further clear information sheet, carrying for instance a sales slogan, may be similarly attached to overlie the sheets 1 1, 12, 13 and 14. A further column of sheets (not shown) could be added onto the poster to enable a three figure number to be displayed. In a further embodiment (not shown), either a further number of sheets may be mounted on the reverse side of the background sheet 10, or a second background sheet may be mounted back to back to the sheet 10, to enable information to be displayed on each side of the assembly. 1. An information display device comprising a background sheet upon which a number of information sheets marked with information to be displayed are detachably mounted by means of hook and pile fastening means.

2. An information display device as claimed in Ciaim 1, in which the information sheets are at least partly transparent so that information permanently on the background sheet may be seen through them.
