Abstract
205,015. Cullin, J. F. March 5, 1923. Dynamos, driving.-The armature of a dynamo for charging a storage battery is connected to the driving-shaft through a clutch which is located within the dynamo housing and permits the armature to rotate freely relatively to the shaft when the electromotive force of the dynamo is below that of the battery. The driving-shaft 5, Fig. 1, is journaled in the ends 2 of the housing 1, and the armature 8 is mounted on a sleeve 9 surrounding the shaft 5. The sleeve 9 has a flange 10 within which is a spring-pressed pawl 13 engaging with a ratchet wheel 11 on the shaft 5. In a modification, the driving-shaft is tubular and surrounds a reduced end of the armature shaft.
