Abstract
A foot rest steplessly adjusted in height is by being brought from an inclined position into a horizontal position by the sitter's feet whereupon the clamping of a latch (104) is released from a fixed rack (102) and a gear wheel (111) rolls up the rack (102) and a tension spring moves the foot rest upwards. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
A foot rest steplessly adjustable in height
The invention originates from a device according to the preamble of the main claim. Known adjustable foot rests are, in general, very expensively constructed with roller guides and complicated latching and unlocking systems. In general, the preparation of the foot rest can only be adjusted by manual manipulation, partially by means of tools. This is a disadvantage, especially in manufacturing with shift work when personnel of different sizes are to be installed at the same working location.
Advantages of the invention
As opposed to this, the arrangement in accordance with the invention comprising the characterising features of the main claim has the advantage that a rapid adjustment of the foot rest is facilitated in the sitting position in that only the rear region of the foot rest is forced down and thus the optimal height can be steplessly set. Moreover, the very simple construction of the arrangement in accordance with the invention is seen as an advantage. The locking of the foot rest is released by the simple twisting of the latches whereupon the foot rest may be used comfortably at the desired height. This is produced by means of a tension spring preferably arranged at the rear portion of the foot rest.
Advantageous further developments and improvements of the teaching set forth in the main claim becomes apparent from the sub-claims and from the following description.
Drawing
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawing; therein, Figure 1 shows a side view of the adjusting device, Figure 2 is a perspective view of the latch.
Description ofthe invention
Further details and features of the invention will become apparent from the following description of the embodiment. An L-shaped rail 101 is screwed onto the longitudinal frame members of a working location frame (not shown in detail). A rack 102 is fixed to the said rail 101 opposite one of its limbs so that a U-shaped guide rail is formed wherein the teeth on the rack are shown on the inside of the
U-shape. This guide 103 formed by the L-shaped rail 101 and the rack 102 is fixedly mounted to the working location frame.
The latch 104 forms the counterpart to the fixed guide 103. The latch 104 formed as a U-shaped angle has limbs 105, 106 of different lengths. A tooth-like section 107 is provided in the region of the longer limb 106 (see Figure 2). This tooth-like section 107 of the limb 106 and the opposite outer edge 108 of the limb 105 form the clamping region of the latch 104.
As can be seen from Figure 1, the latch 104 is guided in the fixed guide 103 whereby the tooth-like section 107 is supported in the rack 102 and the opposite clamping region 108 on the latch 104 is supported on the opposite limb of the fixed guide 103.
The foot rest of the working location frame is rigidly connected to the latch 104. At the rear portion of the foot rest there is a tension spring which produces tilting of the latch 104. The direction of pull of the tension spring (not shown in detail) is represented in Figure 1 by an upwardly directed arrow. The pressure point due to the force on the foot rest lies in the forward region of the foot rest and is illustrated by a downwardly directed arrow.
Both forces together produce a tilting of the latch 104 in the fixed guide 103.
The bore 109, in which is mounted the shaft 110 for the gear wheels 111 arranged at both ends, is located in the latch 104. Thus, the gear wheels are located on a common shaft 110 mounted in the latch 104. Just as the tooth-like section 107, the gear wheel 111 is also in engagement with the rack 102.
The height adjustment of the foot rest takes place as follows: the foot rest 100 is pressed down in the rear region, that is to say in the region remote from the working operator (the rear region of the foot rest). In so doing, the clamping region of the root-like section 107 comes out of engagement with the rack 102. Due to the upwardly directed spring force, the foot rest is moved upwards until the tooth-like section 107 on the latch 104 is once again in engagement with the rack 102. In so doing, the gear wheel 111 is moved along the rack 102. If, on the other hand, the rear region of the foot rest is forced down with a tension spring force of force F, the foot rest is moved downwards until the desired height is reached and the latch 104 is situated in the rack 102 by means of the section 107.
The rigid connection of the gear wheels by means of the shaft 110 prevents tilting in the opposite adjustment directions. If the rear region of the foot rest is once again relieved then the latch tilts into the forward clamping region 108 and the rear clamping region 107. In this position, the foot rest is inclined at an angle of substantially 7". During height adjustment, the foot rest is brought into a substantially horizontal position wherein the gear wheel 111 acts as a pivot point.
1. A foot rest for a working location frame steplessly adjustable in height, wherein the foot rest is fixed at both ends in vertical guides rigid with the frame, wherein two gear wheels are rigidly connected to one another and are mounted on the foot rest and arranged at both ends, the gear wheels being in engagement with vertical racks fixed to the frame and wherein the foot rest is pre-tensioned into a higher position by a spring, characterised in that, the foot rest can be locked by means of a respective latch arranged at each end on the foot rest wherein the latch engages in the respective associated rack.
2. Afoot rest according to claim 1 characterised in that the guide for the foot rest takes place by means of the latch formed as a U-shaped angle and which is guided in a vertical U-shaped guide fixed to the frame.
3. A foot rest according to claim 1 or 2 characterised in that the latch is retained in the latching
