Abstract

Simulated double glazing wherein a transparent sheet or film is secured around a window or door by means of touch closure material thereby to provide a draughtproof sealed screen which is easily removable and replaceable.

Description

SPECIFICATION Double glazing This invention relates to simulated double glazing.
Many attempts have been made in the past to simulate double glazing by stretching a screen of plastics material over a window or door opening. However, such known devices suffer from the disadvantage of being difficult to seal around the edges while being readily removable.
An object of the present invention is to provide simulated double glazing which is easily sealed around the edges and which can be readily removed and replaced.
According to the present invention there is provided simulated double glaxing comprising a sheet or film adapted to cover a window, door or the like opening and being provided on one or more of its edges with one part of a strip of touch closure material, the other part being, in use, secured around an opening.
Preferaby, said touch closure material is of the type sold under the Trade Mark "Velcro".
An embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example.
In order to prevent draughts through window, door, or the like openings a strip of "Velcro" (Trade Mark) or the like touch closure material has on part secured around the perimeter of the opening and the other part secured around the edges of a sheet of acetate, polythene or the like film cut to the size of the opening. The sheet can thus be secured over the opening by pressing the co-operating parts of the "Velcro" (Trade Mark) together thereby forming a draughtproof screen or a form of simulated double glazing.
Improvements or modifications may be made without departing from the scope of the invention.
1. A kit for providing simulated double glazing, comprising a sheet or film of transparent material having at its edge a first part of touch closure material, and a second complementary part of the closure material having fixing means for securing it around a window, door or the like opening.
2. A kit according to Claim 1, wherein the first part of the touch closure material exte#nds around the entire perimeter of the sheet or film.
3. A kit according to Claim 1 or 2, wherein the touch closure material is of multiple-hook-and-eye construction.
4. A kit according to Claims 1, 2 or 3, wherein the sheet or film is acetate or polythene.
5. A kit for providing simulated double glazing, substantially as hereinbefore described.
6. Simulated double glazing having a sheet or film of transparent material extending across a window, door or the like opening and having at its edge a first part of touch closure material, and a second complementary part of the touch closure material secured around the window, door or the like opening and in engagement with said first part to provide a seal.
7. Simulated double glazing according to Claim 6, wherein the touch closure material extends around the window, door or the like opening.
8. Simulated double glazing according to Claim 6 or 7, wherein the touch closure material is of multiple-hook-and-eye construc tion: 9. Simulated double glazing substantially as hereinbefore described.
