Abstract
A system for extracting energy from the sun's rays including a bank of solar energy cells (326) which generate an electrical current or other forms of useful energy when exposed to the rays of the sun. A heat exchange manifold system (324 and 350) transmits heat away from the cells (326). The cells (326) are shaped so as to cause a trapping effect of radiation incident thereon. The converting unit is preferably equipped with light gathering and focusing means (340 and 341) thereby providing a coherent optical output.
